Cerveja para quem quer iniciar no mundo das pretas. Pouco aroma, algo de chocolate e fumaça, com destaque para o malte. Bela cor, café escuro com boa formação de espumas. Adorei.

Bottle 50cl. Opaque dark brown color, two finger frothy tan head, recedes rather quickly, thin layer remains, good lacing; aroma roasty malts, licorice, caramel, hint of coffee; roasted sweetbitter taste, a bit dark chocolate; medium body, creamy texture; sweetbitter taste turns to quite bitter in the finish, dark chocolate tones, bit earthy

Old rating rerated 27.07.2014, tap @ Alstadt Bierstube, Lübeck:
Nice light brown creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry roasted, burnt caramel, grass, butterscotch, roasted grain, coffee, nuts, hints of licorice. Taste is slightly sweet roasted, dark malts, hay, burnt caramel, butterscotch, grass, coffee, licorice. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice, but not as nice as I remember it...

Forholdsvis kort mild bitterhed i eftersmagen. Meget velbalanceret schwarzbier.

Alengrin (1347) - BELGIUM - AUG 21, 2014
Archetypical German Schwarzbier with DDR origins, blackish in colour with a beige head, caramelly aroma with roasted malts, smooth mouthfeel with deep caramel malts as well as oasted bitterness and a pungent but brief bitterhops ’sting’ in the finish. Still a very good example of its style.

50cl bottle bb172015, local. Deep mahogani brown-near black pour with generous, stable beige head. Aroma is less inviting, revealing its basic black lager character here: subdued dark malts and strange meaty metallics, which reappear in the taste as a mineral green vegetable (spinache, leek) note. Main body is composed of democratically roasted malts, very light ash, and generous diluted caramel. Semi-dry palate. I do not mind having this benchmark and near-only consolidated Schwarz once in a while, but would prefer to sample more smaller batch, unpasteurised Schwazrbier specimens, a dying style even in the (former) East now it seems.
