On draught at Prost. Clear dark color. Roasted malt aroma. Taste of dark chocolate and smoked dark malts. Like a smoked stout, but much lighter in body. Light, chocolate finish.

Esta es mi gold standard para las cervezas negras. Tiene todo lo que se espera de una buena negra: buen olor, cuerpo, potabilidad, ligera al principio y amarga al final. Perfecta. En segundo lugar dejo a la Kross Stout.

Near black pour with a tan head of tight bubbles. Grainy nose with light molasses notes. There’s also a foresty sort of aroma that I can’t quite define. Much less grain on the palate. Light molasses and that foresty note. A touch of licorice. Medium body. I’m not sure what to make of this.

On tap at Pipes of Scotland. Clear near black with a red tint, beige head. Aroma is chalky, a bit metallic, some bread and malt. Taste is light and fresh, light roasted, a bit metallic and perfectly balanced. Nice one!

A tasty little brau on a Winter afternoon, the Schwarz is with this one. Dusky brown with a following lace of beige, notes of toasted nuts, smoke, caramelised maple syrup, kibbles, chocolate and coffee build a malty tower of flavour and scent. The maltiness is nicely balanced by lightly spicy and herbal hop bitterness. A nice light prickliness gets the flavours across and letting this mellow on your tongue leaves a nice smokey-mocha taste.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tumbler in late 2013. Very malty with lots of chocolate too. Smooth and easy to drink.
