Bottle. Dark body, tall pillowy head. Aroma has smooth roast. Very smooth and creamy mouthfeel with a pleasant warm roast and some nuttiness. This is a very good example of the style - even after the first sip I would say it’s one of the best Schwarzbiers that I’ve had.

PapaVillum (475) - Valby, DENMARK - OCT 16, 2014
330 ml, flaske, 4,8 % ABV, købt i Netto i Valby, 16. oktober 2014.

Bottle @ City alko Tartu. Pours dark brown with small head. Weak aroma of malts. Taste is watery, malts and more water. Taste does not last long. Did I get bad batch or bottle. Anyway something is wrong here. I preffer water to this because its only cplored water (lager).

500ml bottle served in a Weizen glass. A: Pours a beautiful dark amber to brown color forming a a big, thin bubbled beige head. Good retention. Forms a lot of small and spotty lacings in the glass S: Sweet in the nose. Strong notes of caramel, caramel malts, crystal malts, roasted malts. brown bread, earthy yeasts. Flowery hops. A bit metallic end T: Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of roasted, caramel, caramel malts and crystal malts. Toffee. Very bready and crispy. Notes of grassy and flowery hops in the end. Slightly metallic M: Medium to low body. Medium carbonation and a delicious brown bread aftertaste O: Good drinkability. Great German Schwarzbiers even for the not big fans of this style, like me [ BA Review @ 6/18/2014 ]

Review based on the BJCP2008 guidelines (style 4C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L507.05.2014L. AROMA: soft sweet malty background with coffe-like notes. clean lager profile. APPEARANCE: very dark brown color with ruby highlights. opaque. thin tanned head with below average retention. TASTE: light sweet malty flavour with light roasted notes that linger into the finish. low bitterness. almost absent hop flavours. clean lager profile. PALATE: low body. medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a schwarzbier a bit on the watery side but with ok balance between sweet and roasted malts.

Swiezy (21) - POLAND - OCT 7, 2014
Aromat: ciemnego chleba, karmelowy, deliaktnie palony, lekko czekoladowy, aromat suszonych sliwek.
