4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cask at Wetherspoons, Finchley Rd, London. Pours as black as a pint of Guiness in a coal mine. Chocolate caramel desert on the nose, which was so good I had to postpone the first sip so I could breath it in a bit more. Well carbonated, stout flavours, caramel malts with a soft but flavoursome sweetness. Very tasty indeed.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours opaque brown with a thick tan head. Aroma is metallic and not good. Taste is full roasted malt. Not bad. Has a bitter aftertaste. This is one that smells bad and tastes much better.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Great bier, seemed pretty strong altough it wasn’t. Very opaque dark body and thick dense head lasting several minutes. Nice malty caramel taste that leaves a slightly bittery aftertaste. Being an enthusiast of dark beers, this one will definitely have a spot saved.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Nesten svart med høyt brunt skum. Lukt av malt, svisker, karamell og litt røyk. Noe kaffe og maltsmak. Lite kullsyre, medium bitter. Smaker litt utvannet stout, ikke den helt store smaksopplevelsen.

Great taste with the slightest hint of sweetness and a tiny bitter aftertaste - it all makes a very good beer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
The aroma of the brew is muted, lightly malty. The appearance is not quite black but certainly dark brown; the head is adequate and lingers. The taste is true to style, quite malty and displaying a long finish. I think this is very much a baseline sort of schwarzbier, as it is good and representative of the style but there are better offerings.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle from Appellation Wines, shared with jeevan. Pours clear brown, thin, swiftly vanishing head. Aromas of grass and light milk chocolate. Some light fruitiness. Taste is somehow less than this. Thin and disappointing.
