Had this one on-tap at Lager’s in New Orleans. This beer poured a very dark color that was just a tad lighter than pitch black with a nice off-white head that lasted a little while. The smell is not strong at all, but roasted malt and a bit of coffee come through. The taste is roasted malt with hints of choclate and coffee. The mouthfeel has a creamy character to it, but it is not heavy by any means and makes a great session beer. Recommended.

Bottle @ Hugos. Appearance: pours clear dark brown/black with ok soapy white head and good lacing. aroma/taste: gratin, caramel, bread, nuts, coffee and some floral notes. palette: medium carbonation, medium body, some caramel sweetness, average bitterness, medium duration, dry finish and an oily texture. Overall: nice roasted Schwarz without the excessive sweetness that sometimes are present
