Produced from special dark malts, which is why even its foam is dark.

Bottle from SuperValu, Longford [300514]
Caramel brown, clear, nice frothy beige head, good lacing
Aroma of sweet toffee, soft raisin, brown sugars, soft aroma
Taste of soft dark caramel. soft raisin, hint of sweet dark chocolate, peanut shell, very little bitter hops, what is there is pleasant but the flavour is bit weak, even taking into consideration the abv
Palate - soft carb, thin body, fairly sweet. Finish as main flavour, clean soft sweet finish, some nice soft malts in there
Overall - Very easy drinking, better than expected, but the flavour is too attenuated

Bottle. Medium beige head. Roasted nut aroma. Oily texture, with low carbonation. Sweet, but feels slightly watered down for a dark beer. Overall drinkable, but there are better options out there...

MRMedellin (214) - Bogota, COLOMBIA - MAY 28, 2014
Clear dark beer, small head that dissipate very quickly, standard carbonation, sweet coffee cocoa aromas, flavorsome, but sadly a watery aftertaste, and not too much to remember after. The only particularity is that actually for a dark beer the alcohol content is rather low which increase the number of beer you can have, but not the quality of them.

It pours a very dark red, very fizzy head that dissipates quickly. A mild roasty and cocoa aroma, sweet taste but not much flavour.

Hazy dark brown color, brown head. Sweet, malty, grainy, hints of toffee scent. Malty, dry taste. Dry, mineral, sand like aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.

Buenisima cerveza de poca graduación, 3.8, con un sabor por el que entiendes la cantidad de premios que tiene, botella de medio litro que se puede repetir sin problemas. Gran negra checa.

Brown reddish cryatal colour with a thin beige head. Aroma is caramel, sweet, and some roasted malt deep inside. Taste is plenty of artificial caramel, too sweet and not balanced. Some bitterness would be great to opposite the always present caramel. Lightly body, dry and some caramel finish. Too much syrup for me....

On-tap (500ml) from U Pavouka in Prague Old Town (49Czk):
Light malts & roasted notes with caramel & toffee. Relatively light on the nose & features a hint of chocolate and some darker malts too.
Dark, caramel brown bordering on black with a tan brown head come lacing that stuck to the sides as I worked my way down the beer.
Light to medium malts with some caramel & good sweetness. Some bitterness & roasted flavors appear along with some burnt toast with faint chocolate at the end.
Smooth & creamy with a medium body and moderate carbonation that went well with the clean and crisp feel to the beer that was slightly wet in the finish.

The beer mirrored what I’ve come to expect from Czech beers of late, highly drinkable, enjoyable with little to no off-flavors and very easy to drink.
