Bottle. Clear brown colour with off-white head. Interesting sweet malty aroma. Dryish. A bit sour. Nutty. Notes of caramel as it warms. Sweet malty flavour. The sweetness resembles a bit the one found in the Danish ‘julehvidtøl’ beers, although not being as profound.

A thoroughly dark beer. One of the best from Kozel. Has a wonderful nutty flavor with burnt overtones. Best just below room temperature. The top of the easily available (non-boutique) Czech beers.

Bottle. Suprisingly light malt aroma for a dark beer. Coffee brown color. Light sweet coffee malt flavor with not the strongest of palates. A very enjoyable dunkel.

Chestnut color with a nice beige head. The taste is sweet caramel malty. Rather complex malt pattern. Maybe a little thin on the palate.

Dark copper with a nice head. Light malty, slighty fruity aroma. Light malt body with taste of plums and chocolate. Short finish. Not much for hops. Refreshing.

I just realised this bottle is 3 months out of date, I may have to re-rate. Aroma of burnt malt, caramel, a heap of nuts and a bit of dark chocolate. Pours clear dark amber with a pretty decent off-white head that clings to the glass. The body of this beer is a bit watery, could be the low alcohol content. The flavour is quite nice. I get a cooked hazel/peanut flavours throughout the body with slight hints of caramel and chocolate. Not bad, but a bit weak for dark beer.

tobias (165) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - AUG 3, 2004
dark amberish red pour, with a light tan head, poor retention. sweet roasty carmel aroma. light body with a nice roasty malt and slight caramel flavor, quite light for a fairly dark beer. veery drinkable.

Moderately malty, lightly hoppy aroma. Frothy, light brown head, mostly diminishing. Virtually no lace. Brown to black body. Lightly bitter initial flavour, no finish. Lightly bodied.
