2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
This beer looks great - it has nice deep dark brown color with beige head. That’s exactly how good dark beer should look like. But taste of the beer definitely fails to satisfy the promise made by the appearace. It’s flat and reveals total lack of any vision of the autors. If not vision, it would be good to have at least some idea in which direction to go. In my opinion, the beer lacks even that...

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: APR 2, 2011 Pours brown with a fair beige head. Smells of chocolate, some roasted malt and a little grass. The taste is just a little sweet and there’s an emptiness in the middle palate. Rather like weak black iced coffee. Dull. [2.4]
Liked it a bit more this time - the chocolatey dark malt is nice and the fairly dry finish makes it very drinkable and just tasty enough but that empty middle is still a letdown.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JAN 17, 2010 Very dark brown color, beige head; aroma of sweet caramel; mouthfeel is on the thin side with some carbonation desperately trying to hold it up; very sweet flavor of syrupy caramel with hints of maltiness, but apparently the sweetness is coming from somewhere else. Use of sweetener in a beer may sound scary, but if you´re in for the bottled candy you could choose a lot worse.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Great beer. Poured a dark tan with notes of choclate and fruit in the nose. In the mouth it is smooth and refreshing and has quite a bit going on for a sub 4% beer. A little chocolate, fruit and slightly earthy flavour.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAY 15, 2010 Bottle brought home from Prague, bought in Albert Supermarket:
Fine, clear mahogany-brown colour.
High, airy, foam that dissapears too quickly. The aroma is marked by obvious chocolate, caramel, some liquorice and malts. The aroma leaves no traces of the hops, but is very appealing. The flavor is quite complex with a lot of chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Some caramel appears too, and even notes of liquorice are hiding in there. The liquorice are getting more obvious towards the finish, when the beer gets more sourish and dry too. The finish is quite bitter, and fits the beer. This might sound exciting, but somehow the taste in itself still manage to give a bit of a boring impression. It might be because of the dryishness. This beer is only a little creamy, and it would suit it being more. It could be sweeter too, together with less dry. All in all this is a quite nice dunkel, though. All in all: 3.4.
15.05.2010: Re-rating as my brother brought by a can. Appearance is a little better this time - head lasts better, but still not long enough. Aroma is not as appealing as earlier, less complex. Else, this beer seems exactly the same as before.
