Bottle. Clear brown colour with off-white head. Interesting sweet malty aroma. Dryish. A bit sour. Nutty. Notes of caramel as it warms. Sweet malty flavour. The sweetness resembles a bit the one found in the Danish ‘julehvidtøl’ beers, although not being as profound.

A thoroughly dark beer. One of the best from Kozel. Has a wonderful nutty flavor with burnt overtones. Best just below room temperature. The top of the easily available (non-boutique) Czech beers.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Muggus (193) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - AUG 3, 2004
I just realised this bottle is 3 months out of date, I may have to re-rate. Aroma of burnt malt, caramel, a heap of nuts and a bit of dark chocolate. Pours clear dark amber with a pretty decent off-white head that clings to the glass. The body of this beer is a bit watery, could be the low alcohol content. The flavour is quite nice. I get a cooked hazel/peanut flavours throughout the body with slight hints of caramel and chocolate. Not bad, but a bit weak for dark beer.
