Dark amber, wattery, red to dark red or even beown,. Head is quite long lasting and grey, carbonation is weak. Flavour is of malts and sweet caramell plus some additional artificial sweetness; quite wattey, Munich malts, no hoppy aroma.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Back from a Czech Republic pub-crawl this is part of my express ratings for the “typical” Světlý 11°- (Czech light Pils), Světlý 12°+ (Czech Pils), Polotmavý (Czech Amber Lagers) and Tmavý (Czech Black Lagers). Non-typical beers will receive personalized descriptions after the express ratings.
How: Tap in some non-beer-geek restaurant in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic
The look: Dark brown body with a medium beige head
To me a typical Czech Tmavé (Czech Black Lager) is: Dark malts and barely any roastiness sensation. Some dark fruits flavours (raisins with a little figs, dates and prunes) wrapped in smooth dark caramel (borderline toffee) and a subtle chocolate note. A bit bready. Moderately sweet without much hops presence and only a mild bitterness (voluntary unbalanced it seems). Very smooth body, like a watery cream.
This one: As above but a bit sweeter (too sweet) and syrupy than average with some liquorice flavours. Something felt “artificial” about it. Inferior Tmavý.

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Clear dark red brown, fluffy lasting light brown head. Mild sweet aroma. This used to be a favorite but now it tastes just candy sweet with a bit of roasted malt. Good malty and a bit hoppy finish. I suspect artificial sweetener. Average dunkel.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
3.8%??! Tap, all over Prague. Ruby tints and beige lace. Sweet malty chocolatey sessions. Cocoa Pops milk with dunked butter cookie. Simple, sweet, beautiful late morning/lunchtime beer...almost a drainpour by evening...way too sweet to be serious. Dark malts beaten to death with the sugarspoon. Overly saccharine tasty restorative.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma is very sweet and malty. It looks dark brown with a beige head - good lasting. The flavor is very sweet and a lot of malt characteristics.
