The best dark beer I have ever had. Note that I have only tried the Velkopopovcky Kozel Cerny brewed in the Czech Republic. This is the best dark beer in the world. Not too sweet no bite, just right.
Of course, Velkopopovycky just won the gold medal in Belgium for best beer in all three categories: light, medium and dark. This should come as no surprise to people that actually know beer.
I would also like to point out that in the Czech Republic, where Kozel comes from, 57% of the people prefer Cerny (dark) Kozel to medium, light or premium light. I agree with them. After all, Czechs drink more beer per capita than any other people in the world.

Dark dark brown colour. Aroma from plums and raw sugar. The palate is to thin and watery in my taste. The tast has some mild coffee and burnt malt. I´ve had better Czechs.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown colour with a small very fast disapearing head. Smooth taste of caramel and toffee. Watery and a bit too sweet for my taste, but you cant get everything for a 3,8%

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Nice, dark brown, with a creamy head, reasonable persistence. Raw sugar flavour and extremely sweet, perhaps too much so. Some chocolate and fruit flavours as well. It’s a lot like my housemate: nice, but a bit uncoordinated.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap in Olomouc:
Creamy fruit salad sailing on an underlying bock-like malt sweetness. Roasted caramel and ashes complete the semi-complexity.
Cloying caramel in an almost nitroed, soft and round body. Sweet chocolate melting into a weak roastiness.
Thick icing on a thin cake is not necessarily as enjoyable as it could be.

Fantastic! Pours a rich red copper with a medium tan head with good lace. Aromas of toffee, sweet spice, dates. Toasted malt palate with cooked fruit in the finish (apples and raisins).
