Produced from special dark malts, which is why even its foam is dark.

Flaske. Mřrkebrun. Duft af sukker som ogsĺ gĺr igen i smagen. Men meget drikbar isćr grundet de lidt fćrre procenter.

Bottle... I just didn’t get it. THe flavor doesn’t hold up for me. A bit too watery.

Bottle, on the train to Denmark. Purposeful brown, coarse tan head. Clean brown bread aroma, a bit earthy. Toasty brown bread flavor, a bit of chocolate.

Bottle at Praha airport. Creamy. Dark brown colour. Sugary and malty taste. Some nut and roast notes. Smooth and enjoyable. My 12th and last Czech beer this weekend.

thewolf (11264) - Kolding, DENMARK - SEP 6, 2007
Bottle. Bought @ Fřtex, Aabenraa. Golden ruby-red (quite dark) with a medium, slightly fizzy, foamy yellowish head. Aroma is nutty with a little roasted malts. Flavour is sweet, nutty and mixing in a little chocolate and roasted flavours. Nice flavour, but the mouthfeel is perhaps a little limited.

jspruit (122) - Dublin, IRELAND - SEP 3, 2007
Purchased this 500 ml bottle in Praha a couple of months for next to nothing and drank this past weekend in Dublin. Pour resulted in a nice head that didn’t stay around too long on a brown copper body that looks great. Very malty and very sweet are the first aromas that hit your nose after the pour. Some nutty flavors come through next. The malts, nuts, and sweetness all come through on the first sip and there is a bit of coffee to it too. Goes down really smooth-full of flavor yet not too heavy so that is a nice combination. I do agree that the taste doesn’t stick around too long in the mouth and on the tongue, but the mouthfeel is great with a bit of carbonation. I was impressed by this beer and have not had alot of this style before so I would like to try more now. I would definitely try some if I saw it here in Ireland or if I go back to Praha.

Bottle at the Bishops Arms, V Hamngatan, Göteborg, Sweden. Dark clear reddish borwn with a small beige head. Nutty and toffeish aroma, slightly roasted. Light to medium bodied, decent mouthfeel. Flavour is too sweet.

Gethinbeer (2212) - Nova Scotia, CANADA - AUG 6, 2007
Very dark ruby red with thin off white head. Metallic aroma. Rather smooth texture, fruit, liquorice flavour. Initial quite sweet, brown sugar. Seems to go more thin as you drink it and loses it flavour a little, which is a shame. Overall disappointing by the end, a bit thin gassy.

Dunkel style beer, found in a supermarket in Greece. Sweet with dark foam and a bit of smokey taste. Better than other Chech beers

Not much of a selection on a Czech train ride. Ah well, at least it’s beer. And I’m also really glad its "foam" is dark, too.
