COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Produced from special dark malts, which is why even its foam is dark.

Red colour with a huge off-white head. Malty aroma with notes of caramel and hops. The flavour is dominated by malt with some sweetnes and metallic notes.. Slightly bitter finish. A bit watery, but still nice.

A clear, dark, reddish amber with a tan head. The aroma is overwhelmingly that of caramel toffee; the flavour sweet caramelized malt. I used to rate this as one of my favourites but my palate now tells me it suffers from a lack of complexity – the sweet malty flavour is the same from the nose, all around the mouth and into the aftertaste with nothing else coming through to excite greater interest.

Bottled. Dark red colour with beige small head. Fresh sweetish malt aroma. Flavor is toasted malt with a bit bitterness, but still very refreshing. Very wellbalanced.

Appetising Czech dunkel. Poured a chestnut colour with a decent frothing head. Light aroma has hitns of licorice and spices. Light-to-medium bodied with a mild flavour profile with hints of milky coffee, toffee, dried fruit and dark malt. Gentle. Some balancing bitterness. (Bottle)

Carbonisation moyenne. Légère amertume en arrière goût. (Rating #82)

Colour is slightly lighter than a lager. Taste is a bit sweet/sour with a weak body and carbonation to support it, dissapointing for a czech beer.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2005 Herlig mørk øl med flot aroma og flot vedvarende skum. Har et strejf af karamel, men er trodsalt lidt vandig

Nice dark colour, with a white head that disappears a bit to early. A bit to light, a stronger beer would perhaps make a better overall finish.

Dark copper, long lasting white head, laces nicely. Caramel and metallic smell. Palate without any edges or graininess to it maybe a touch thin for my taste. Flavour fairly simple roasted malts.

Bottle. Clear brown colour with off-white head. Interesting sweet malty aroma. Dryish. A bit sour. Nutty. Notes of caramel as it warms. Sweet malty flavour. The sweetness resembles a bit the one found in the Danish ‘julehvidtøl’ beers, although not being as profound.
