2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 rauchbier (3409) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - MAY 22, 2012
Bottle, from an ethnic food store in Scunthorpe. Deep red brown, thin shortlived off white head and moderate condition. Initial berry fruitiness in the nose soon gives way to a sweet caramel note, a slight peppery spiciness and a faint phenolic smokiness. Quite thin in the mouth with a powdery chocolate note giving way quickly to fruty berries and a gentle buttery sweetness laced with burnt toffee, dry in the finish with some burnt maltiness but ultimately quite thin.

500mL bottle. Great aroma, solid pour...dark head looks delicious. The taste is awesome, one of the best dunkels I’ve ever had. Mouthfeel is great, the body is light & just right for the style. Really enjoyed this dunkel.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 BlackHaddock (2440) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2012
Bought in Prague early 2009, but is it brewed in Russia now? This brown 500ml bottle had 5 days left on its ’Best before date’ when I reviewed it on a cold, wet and dark night in September 09.
Poured (twice) into a Westmalle chalice; looked good, dark, almost black body with a good, well formed tanned head. When held up to the light you could see it was clear and a deep reddy brown colour really.
The smells sent mixed messages to my brain, sweet yet bitter dark chocolate and liquorice esters vied for my attention.
The taste had no liquorice, and the bitterness of the dark chocolate also failed to turn up in the flavours, just the sweetness of the aforementioned dark chocolate was evident.
Lacks body and substance in its bottle form, drank from a tap in Prague I thought it sweet, but it had more depth of body and character. Disappointed with the wishy-washy bottled version and it is my last beer from prague that I obtained to review, wish I’d kept something else back now.

I was positively surprised, when I first drank this beer. Some may say it’s for woman - when you sitting in Prague’s "hospoda" (pub) you’ll see women drinking it. Excellent taste - you can find a little caramel aroma there, but not to strong. Good foam, stays long on top. Great colour, dark but not black. One of the best beers I ever drank.

Bottled, Norway. Malty, slightly metallic taste. A bit bland, with little aftertaste. Looks better than it tastes.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 hlkanga (204) - - MAR 31, 2012
500 ml can. Pours ruby brown with a large foamy espresso head. Aroma is pleasant but litlle bit weak with some roasty and caramel malt and some metallic notes. Taste is sweet with caramel & roasty malt and raisins. Low carbonation, medium bodied and watery but smooth mouthfeel. A great and well-balanced everyday beer with a good availability.

Can, Finland. Light brown head. Red brown body. Malty aroma. Taste is malty and medium sweet, a little bit of coffee and metal. The taste is also very thin. Drinkable beer, good after sauna and with game meal but nothing too special.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Geuzelambix (243) - Křbenhavn, DENMARK - MAR 24, 2012
I remembered this as very meaty, but it was thinner than I remembered. Maybe my taste has just developed. Not a bad beer it’s both dark and fresh but nothing special.
