4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
A thoroughly dark beer. One of the best from Kozel. Has a wonderful nutty flavor with burnt overtones. Best just below room temperature. The top of the easily available (non-boutique) Czech beers.

Bottle at home. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Roasted malt, caramel, wood, coffee and a bit of chocolate. Weak and only slightly malty and hoppy. Average body and carbonation. Average but pretty good for a 3.8% beer.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark brown color, topped with a decent frothy beige colored head. Mild roasted aroma, notes of chocolate and coffee in there too. Starts sweet, with a touch of caramel, followed by some mild roasty taste, finishing with a nice bitterness. Easily drinkable but quite light and mild.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at Beerland pub in Smederevo-Serbia. Pours Coca-Cola color, filtered with a frothy and tick off-white foamy head. Nose: roasted malts, smoked hint. Mouth: caramel, cola, watery and easy drinking but far from being terrific.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draught, found in a Prague restaurant. Little head, subsides quickly, well
balanced not too sweet, some bitter notes and a hint of caramel. Goes well with their national dish- goulash with knedliki, but otherwise good for once.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
500ml can. Pours clear, deep dark brown with a fluffy beige head that seems to dissipate very quickly. Little to no carbonation. On the nose, I faintly picked up caramel, coffee, and black licorice. Very light on the palate, to the point that it feels watered down (of course, it is less than 4%!). No really distinguished flavors besides caramelized malt with hints of coffee and toast. Not a bad beer, but certainly wouldn't buy a six pack again.

Bottle. Deep amber brown with a beige head. Malty sweet caramel base, very low bitterness, faint roasted notes, and moderate sweetness lasting throughout the finish. Not bad.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught. Aroma is not very intensive, with some roasted malt. Light sweetness, only slight bitterness. Light body. Nothing special, but goes well with Czech food.
