Produced from special dark malts, which is why even its foam is dark.

The beer has a reddish brown color, like cola. The foam is almond colored and not very abundant. The beer looks delicious. The smell has some roasted barley, but it isn’t that strong. The bitter sweetroast aroma is nice. The taste is very mellow and has the same bittersweet roast flavor as the smell has. There is a tiny hoppy undertone. The palate isn’t that great, the beer misses some fizzling.

Clear brown with a decent sized beige head that last a little while and then faded away. Syrupy chocolate aroma with a touch of licorice and caramelised nuts. On first taste the caramel comes barrelling in, but because of the low abv it seems to saturate quickly and isn’t as present in subsequent mouthfulls. Light bodied, again because of the abv. Good carbonation peps it up a little while still being very drinkable. Nice, sweet aftertaste that seems to satisfy. However, IMHO, with some more bollocks this could be a very good beer, but as it is it is just good.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 3D). Bottle 50 cl - Batch L5174 18:10. AROMA: slight sweet bread crust aroma with faint notes of caramel and some cereal (rice, corn). no hop aromas. APPEARANCE: dark ruby color and translucent. moderate-low tanned head with below average retention. TASTE: very dilluted caramel and roasted notes with a slight sweet background. low bitterness with a sweet finish. PALATE: thin body with low carbonation. OVERALL: a very poor czech dark lager.

Clear dark amber/ruby. Light tan head. Roasted malt dominant with crusty brown bread aroma. Easy in the mouth with sweet roated grains & low hop flavour. For a 3.8er it’s very good.

A nostalgic beer for me as one of the only dark beers available in the late 90s that wasn't stout - a good point of difference to all the tasteless lagers. Deep brown with a foamy mocha head. Roasted malt, coffee and milk chocolate on the nose. Sweet flavours of roasted malts, nuts, milk chocolate. A very mild bitterness to clean the beer up and make it very drinkable.

Not much of a selection on a Czech train ride. Ah well, at least it’s beer. And I’m also really glad its "foam" is dark, too.

...bottle. Nice dark beer, with an off-white, lasting head. Smooth, malty, grainy, goes down well. No overpowering alcohol taste, which is not typical of the style. Slightly sweet, but not over the top, balanced by roasted malt with a nice smooth finish, and a hint of hops. Surprisingly good, but overpriced due to the low alcohol content.
