A nice dark lager from the Czech Republic. Tastes completely different to the very sweet Russia-brewed version.

Lovely malty aroma. Pours a dark golden/brown colour with a light tan head that dissipates gradually. Light and smooth on the palette. Mostly malt flavours that are a little lacking. A pleasant drink.

Can. Clear dark brown with a large but diminishing tan head. Aroma is bready, toasted malt, caramel. Flavour is lightly malty, some roast malt, but mainly milky chocolate/coffee and caramel. Basically no bitterness which is a bit disconcerting.

Can from a small market in Prague. Pours a ruddy amber with a transient tan head. Aroma is a dark malt with a hint of chocolate. Med body or nearly. Flavor matches aroma and now I’m sue there’s chocolate. Arguably a bit of nuttiness. Drinkable.

Beerenberger (1475) - Fischer, Texas, USA - OCT 1, 2014
Sampled on Prague - Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, and hints of molasses. A dark brown pour with a rapidly dissipating tan head and no lacing. The taste is slightly sweet with flavors of roasted malts, cola, grain, and hints of chocolate. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Overall, tasty and very drinkable.

For me it’s a classic among czech corporation-made beers. I like to buy a bottle from time to time. Everybody knows it, so needs no description.
