The best dark beer I have ever had. Note that I have only tried the Velkopopovcky Kozel Cerny brewed in the Czech Republic. This is the best dark beer in the world. Not too sweet no bite, just right. Of course, Velkopopovycky just won the gold medal in Belgium for best beer in all three categories: light, medium and dark. This should come as no surprise to people that actually know beer. I would also like to point out that in the Czech Republic, where Kozel comes from, 57% of the people prefer Cerny (dark) Kozel to medium, light or premium light. I agree with them. After all, Czechs drink more beer per capita than any other people in the world.

A thoroughly dark beer. One of the best from Kozel. Has a wonderful nutty flavor with burnt overtones. Best just below room temperature. The top of the easily available (non-boutique) Czech beers.

Not so much to say about this fantastic invention - it’s just so wonderful, both in the aspects of taste, flavour and aroma but appearance and palate too. If I had to choose a beer to drink every day, this one would surely be situated in the top 3... fantastically made!

This is a lovely Munich dunkel with a great sweetish flavor and lingering palate. The flavor is well-balanced. One of my favorites.

This is absolutely my favorite Czech beer - hands down! As a Dunkel, it is very sweet and light in body. Lo-alcohol makes it extremely drinkable. It's also lightly carbonated - another plus. This baby's got it all, I swear! It is magnificent! It has a light-to-medium malt body with caramel malt flavors. No hops to be found whatsoever. I'll bet not one was dropped in the brew kettle unless it was a mistake. Amazing!! I could drink at least two more. It's only weaknesses are that the aroma isn't remarkable (how could it be when the taste is so mild?) and the head retention is poor.

Dark brown color beer with very smooth taste. Very smooth almost ground coffee aroma. Thin head. Very sweet and easy on teh palate. Easy finish. The best Czech beer there is. Just lovely. Must try for all.
