3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Chad9976 (886) - Albany, New York, USA - JUL 16, 2011
Received a 500ml can from a friend in the Czech Republic (thanks, Lukas!) Poured into a pilsner glass.
A: Bright, clear straw color. Very effervescent at first, but becomes mostly tepid sooner than later. Forms a huge, frothy head which mostly dissipates, but not completely. Ok lacing.
S: Virtually non-existent aroma. Very generic European pilsner scent of grain. Nothing skunky or foul, though.
T: Extremely neutral-tasting. Thankfully there’s nothing foul or sour about the palate, but there isn’t much to like. It’s very clean and watery with a touch of biscuity malt on the finish. Otherwise, a bland beer.
M: Wet, watery, somewhat thin. Not crisp while in the mouth. Finishes clean, though
D: bland taste + watery/tepid palate = easy-drinking beer. Somewhat refreshing because of its water-like quality, but is that really a compliment?
Overall, a clean-drinking Czech pilsner that doesn’t offend, but has quite a ways to go to impress.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 crossovert (4565) - Wisconsin, USA - JUL 10, 2011
A sweeter one. It is smooth and subtly fruity. It isn’t the worst nor the best Czech pils.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 RexTalionis (1425) - FINLAND - JUN 14, 2011

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Hermod (2197) - Vantaa, FINLAND - JUN 12, 2011
50cl can @ Grĺsälstasting #2. Poured golden color with a white head. Aroma is grainy malt and some sweetness. Flavor similar, slightly sweet malty grainy with a slight bitterness. Basic, but does its job.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 thirstyrabbit (719) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUN 8, 2011
Bottle. Golden body, tall head. Weak aroma with light hops. Taste is relatively clean but still offers enough maltiness and hops to be a Bohemian. Finish has dry hoppiness.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 ogreface (1089) - Budapest, HUNGARY - MAY 27, 2011
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 inbirraveritas (1026) - Budapest, HUNGARY - MAY 27, 2011
Kissé híg ill. könnyed testű aranyló láger, közepes fehér habbal és édes, malátás alappal, melyet enyhe füves és élesztős hatások kísérnek. Lecsengése rövid és szintén édeskés. Összességében nem okozott túl maradandó élményeket…

Bottled as usually though my Kozel brewed in Pilsen not in Velké Popovice. Medium bitterness, unexpected sweetness. Drinkable but dark Kozel is so much better!!
