3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Can from the LCBO, this beer pours a clear golden colour. The head is massive and soapy white, it lasts quite a long time with great lacing. Aroma notes are dominated by fruity esters like tart apple, and pear. Along with crackers, and cereal malts. This beer smells a lot like a cider! The tasting notes include more apple, and pear. The palate is quite smooth, and it finished quite peppery. Excellent Pilsner!

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
500ml bottle from Tallinn. Clear deep golden colour, large white frothy mostly diminishing head, fair bit of lacing. Moderately malty aroma of light bread and hay, light floral hops and a hint of butter. Taste is initially slightly sweet but fairly balanced and slightly acidic, turning into a lightly bitter finish with a moderately astringent feel. Medium body, oily texture, lively carbonation. Well-made if somewhat simple and uninteresting Czech pils, from the major Czech brewers pilsners I’d prefer either Budweiser or Uruquell. Very drinkable and would certainly work very well in Summer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 ml can bought at Lafaco & Co’s booth at HKCEC in Wan Chai during Hong Kong Food Festival 2013.
Clear golden yellow colour; Three-quarter finger head and soapy white foam which fades in 30 seconds; Small sticky lacing and fizzy carbonation; Light aroma of malt, with bread, dough, light honey, light lemon and straw; Close to light sweet taste of malt, with faint honey, faint metallic, dry bread, barks, light liquorice, lemon and fairly light grass;
Light body, thin and crisp palate; Mouth feel is light Czech Pils, with some pretty good wooden and light spice taste, not earthy though. Also some good shades of light honey, decent breadiness and good lemon, too; Hoppiness is light lemon and straw nose, good citrus, wood and light grass taste. Liquorices is pretty mild for the style and manage to give a low-fi bitter but notable low astringent finish; Dry after taste. Crisp and easy to mouth.
Comments: As Czech Pils this is pretty light weight in every aspect, but it’s also easygoing and refreshing. Neither maltyness nor bitterness is overbearing, makes it a nice Summer thirst quencher or meal companion. Decent.
