Very good Lager. Taste is mild but colourfull. Maybe there are better beers in this kind, but Kozel has a great if not the best balance.

Pours a clear golden color, the head is white and initially has a medium thickness but slowly diminishes. The aroma reveals hay and noble hops, it is gentle. The flavor is good, fruits (berries) flirt with noble hops on a stack of hay, the flirt finishes with bitteness. The body has a medium to full thickness, the texture is creamy and the carbonation moderate. I didn’t think I would really appreciate this beer but it is a pleasant surprise.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Medium and compact foam, discreet duration. Yellow gold color, limpid and medium fizzy. Determined alcohol and malty scent, unusual for one Czech beer. Much prickly and racy taste; enough determined malty and hoppy notes, overbearing and long-lasting bitter. Elevated alcoholic perception. Balanced end.

Overall a great great beer. Goes down even better after trying other, inferior, beers! It is the best medium beer I have tried, better than Staropramen and even Pilsner! I prefer Czech beer, in general, but this one easily takes the cake. A number of people I know think Staropramen’s "Granat" is better but I don’t agree. I also like Kozel because it has less of a bite.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
A nice solid lager. Nothing too special. Malty on the nose. Pours golden amber with reasonable foamy head. Nice mix of malt sweetness and hoppy bitterness. Good beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, soft malty lager. Good Czech style perhaps a bit lighter than Budvar but still an enjoyable brew, sweet malt and fruity hops on the finish.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I enjoyed the dark Kozel a lot, so my hopes were fairly high. I wasn’t disappointed: clear, deep gold, generous foamy head that leaves a lacy glass. Solid malty nose, well rounded palate with all of the things you expect to taste in a good quality pale lager-- a malty, bitter, and refreshing mouthful.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
500ml bottle. Darkish gold with thin tight white head. Bit of a sickly pale malt aroma, but ok in mouth and then some hop bitterness. Not overly wonderful, but for some reason I really like. Has some biscuity malt too.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Good, simple, clean tasty Pilzen with a clear Saaz flavour. Colour is golden orange, head is thick but disappears way too quickly, though.

Bottle. 1-2cm white head dissipates quickly. Aroma has very slight floral hint. Taste is somewhat sweet; light, and refreshing. An average pils; easy to drink but not outstanding in any area.
