Has a smoothly bitter taste, a soft malt and hops scent and sparkles perfectly. This highly malted beer is considered to be an excellent lager both at home and abroad
This beer is also brewed at "Plzensky Prazdroj (SABMiller)" in Plzen, Czech Republic.

Not bad, but it sort of has a bit of an adjuncty feel to it. Lots of bready malt in the aroma and flavour, with a lot of sweetness in both. A bit of a metallic twang too. Pales in comparison to the Bernard I had the other day...

A light golden amber colour with a light effevescence, a very clean, and slight aroma of wheat and hops, there is also a touch of liquorice. the taste is again of dry hops, and the wheaty aspect comes through again. the aftertaste is very light, with only a little dryness on the palate.

Clear golden with a thick white head that vanish quickly. Aroma is hoppy and floral. The taste is light, some hops, very drinkable. Nothing wrong but nothing special either.

There is a wonderful tale told in Michael Jackson’s Beer Hunter Series about The Good Soldier Svejk. Svejk for Czech beer drinkers, is a national hero of sorts. As the story goes, Svejk failed to join his regiment. When asked what happened, Svejk replied: "It happened to me that I drank one beer after another." Kozel might have been the beer that caused Svejk to forget about reporting back for duty, and continue to drink beer. This is a fantastic Czech Pilsner, it very clean, malty, hoppy, and so, so drinkable. Kozel pours to a beautiful, bright, deep golden color, with a nice white head, and a soft carbonation. The nose on this beer is very inviting. Very fragrant Saaz hop aromas coupled with some good pilsner malt aroma, and a touch of DMS(sulphur like aroma) flood the nose. The palate is crisp and clean. Wonderful pilsner malt flavors with a smooth, round, body. This beer finishes with a nice hop bite up front, then dries with a snappy, grassy, bitter hop finish. This is a drinking beer. I could lose a day, or a weekend in a tavern in Prague drinking glass after glass of this beer. With pilsners as good as this, can you really blame Svejk for not joining his regiment? I guess the moral of the story is, if your going to drink a beer as fantastic as Kozel, don’t make any other plans. Match this with roasted chicken, or grilled fish.

Very good Lager. Taste is mild but colourfull. Maybe there are better beers in this kind, but Kozel has a great if not the best balance.

Pours a clear golden color, the head is white and initially has a medium thickness but slowly diminishes. The aroma reveals hay and noble hops, it is gentle. The flavor is good, fruits (berries) flirt with noble hops on a stack of hay, the flirt finishes with bitteness. The body has a medium to full thickness, the texture is creamy and the carbonation moderate. I didn’t think I would really appreciate this beer but it is a pleasant surprise.

Medium and compact foam, discreet duration. Yellow gold color, limpid and medium fizzy. Determined alcohol and malty scent, unusual for one Czech beer. Much prickly and racy taste; enough determined malty and hoppy notes, overbearing and long-lasting bitter. Elevated alcoholic perception. Balanced end.

Overall a great great beer. Goes down even better after trying other, inferior, beers! It is the best medium beer I have tried, better than Staropramen and even Pilsner! I prefer Czech beer, in general, but this one easily takes the cake. A number of people I know think Staropramen’s "Granat" is better but I don’t agree. I also like Kozel because it has less of a bite.
