Tap and Growler. Pours lightly hazy deep copper with an average, frothy and pillowy white head, medium-short retention with good lacing. Aroma is bread, cookie, and lightly husky malt, notes of leaves and bark, light tart green apple (acetaldehyde), with earthy and woody hops. The yeast character is fairly significant here, and the green apple dissipates as the beer warms. Flavor is light sugary caramel malt, light toasted/biscuit malt, faint hops with light bitterness, apple and pear esters with a dry, almost chalky finish. Medium body and carbonation. I am not sure what the problem is here, but I would like to revisit this beer as I suspect the noted flaws are not indicative of Kevin and Matt’s beers.
