3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Goldorak (439) - Montreal, - SEP 29, 2007
Sampled on tap at the brewpub in Trier.
Opaque caramel brew with a nice thick and relatively steardy mousse.
Grainy, roasted aromas at first, but as your nose gets saturated the grassy overtones slowly take over.
Mid-Low carbonation makes it really quaffable, the malt is biscuity and delicate, it could have used a bit more umph but it was quite enjoyable. The hop finish was shy at first, just like the smell, but eventually gained momentum. Slight twand towards the tail end, I wasn’t sure if it was oxidation or just a strong mineral content.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 kiwianer (950) - Mönchengladbach, GERMANY - MAY 28, 2012
Test vom 1.3.2009, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,7,7,8,9,7 - 7,45
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Grima (1574) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - FEB 13, 2012
Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Bierkrug (1666) - Idar-Oberstein (In East Africa), Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - DEC 14, 2011
1000 ml bottle at home in Germany. With much thanks to Holy for this one. Like a lot of Dunkels in Rhineland Pfalz they are not so dark as other parts of the country in a lot of cases. Pours kind of an amber brown color with a hugh beige head. Aroma is salt, copper and malt. Taste is roasted malt and again copper. Has some sweetness as well. Palate leaves your mouth dry an coppery. This beer could be much better.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Koelschtrinker (7066) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 18, 2011
9/10/10/10/10/10
