1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Oakes (10215) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 8, 2003
Pale yellow. Aroma is cidery with slightly rotten banana and vague malt. Palate has only light malts and some perfume. Sweetish character underwhelms.

Sweet malts are apparent and ends with a slightly grassy hops flavor. Nearly clear yellow from the growler.
Seemed watered down or just really thin like everything else from Kraftbrau seems to be every time I have some. Props to PsychProf and Hoppygrrrl for lugging the growlers down to Chicagoland. He is confident that I will enjoy the Kraftbrau Helles next time I'm up there!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 BBB63 (5039) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - JUL 6, 2003
UPDATED: JUL 27, 2003 RBSG2003: Straw hue with nice creamy head and some lacing, thin-bodied. Aroma hinted of lemongrass, yeast, spice, and light malts. Initially tart and crisp, as it warmed up, this brew gained some malt sweetness and alcohol presence. Very dry finish. A good summer quaffable beer. RERATE: On tap at Brewery: The aroma has the same characteristic, but seemed more defined and fresh. Did not detect any alcohol presence this time, bumping up the flavor rating and overall rating a notch. A very good summer quaffer.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hopscotch (7542) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUL 4, 2003
RBSG2003 (extended)
(On tap at the brewery)
Sparkling clear, straw-colored brew. Small, creamy, white head.
The nose is of yeast, clove, banana and sweetgrass.
The flavor is tart and watery with clove and grass. Well-balanced.
Light-bodied with an oily mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, bone-dry finish. Nice effort at a difficult style.

Clear yellow/gold. Thin but lasting white head. Yeasty, lemony nose. Slightly thin feel. Yeasty, almost buttery flavour. Dry, vinous finish.

Growler @ RBSG2003. Fresh French malt germanicly hoppy, flavor flattens out when warm but alcohol is still fairly well set in. Good but not great.
