1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 hotstuff (3249) - USA - FEB 14, 2005
On tap at Kraftbrau. Small white head that mostly diminished, fair lacing, fine-small sized bubbles, uncarbonated, and transparent. Aroma was sweet and very much blackberry. The flavor was sweet, acidic, sour, tart, tangy and a very yucky blackberry taste. Smooth mouthfeel. Light body. Not to my liking at all. My least favorite during this rating session.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 lumberjack (178) - Michigan, USA - FEB 11, 2007
Had this on tap at the brewpub in early 2005. Poured hazy with a small frothy head. The blackberries were not overpowering, and were balanced well by the hops. Overall, it was slightly better than average at best..
2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 thedm (4126) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - MAY 18, 2005
This draft brew from the brewery poured a small white colored head of finely sized mostly diminishing bubbles that left behind a transparent light yellow orange colored body with no carbonation. The mildly fruity aroma was mixed with scents of berries. The mouth feel was initially tingly with a mild hop mild berry finish. The flavor contained noted of malt hop and berry that did not mix well together and went against my palate.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 DrnkMcDermott (2450) - Downers Grove, Illinois, USA - OCT 21, 2004
Unfiltered draft sampler at Kraftbrau. I see this is the third blackberry beer Kraftbrau’s made. Well, the way they do it, it seems like a nice fit. It’s still light like a pils, slightly hazy, but without any off-putting fruity tinge. Has a light blackberry smell. In taste the fruit is equal to the malts, and despite a slightly syrupy mouthfeel, a nice note of hoppiness floats through. That’s hard to do well in a fruit ale, never mind a fruit lager.
