Unfiltered draft sampler at Kraftbrau. My first trip here has me finally tearing myself away from Bell’s across the street. This is light and yellow, just a little bit hazy. Sips very nice and cleanly. The hop character is actually fruity at the start, then settles down into a good German style. Very well done.

A hazy light amber hue with the standard fizzy and fading Kraftbrau head, some lace. The aroam hints of buttery biscuit malts, aromatic and floral hops, lemongrass and soem dusty yeast esters. The taste is lemony, bitter, and display a good malty backbone midway through the drink. Some yeast on the finish which has a noble bitter quality. The mouthfeel is fizzy and crisp. This is a good version of a helles, refreshing and nicely quaffable. A nice surprise indeed!

A tale of two Kraftbrau pilseners began with their Down Home Brew. It poured a cloudy yellow-orange, with a thin white ring of foam clinging to the glass. Very earthy, spicy, aromatic hops notes. The flavor was outstanding: strong biscuit and toast flavors, and dominated by earthy, spicy, grassy hops. A touch of lemon in the aftertaste. Strong carbonation enhanced lively mouthfeel. A very well-crafted pilsener. This was the better tale of two...

A biting Pilsner. This beer is malty and bitter. Taste is slightly sweet. A good Pilsner.

There is of course the eccentric house character. THis one has loads of lemon with great pale malt flavor. A heck of a lot like the Helles, and a bit more bitter--as it should be. Thanks a lot PsychProf. This is my kind of beer.

A very good, very snappy Saazy lager with a good, not too oily body. Meant for serious session work, this one warms without excessive sweetness. Good, good, good.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jskendzel (602) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 10, 2003
Light golden appearance. Malty aroma with a nice fresh Saaz aroma. Bitterness on finish of palate. THis is as close to homebrew as you'll get.

Pours a lifeless golden with a pleasant noble hop aroma. Light sweetness in the body finishes with a medium bitterness. Not my favorite style, but overall, smooth, and a pretty decent pilsener
