Huge cream-coloured head, eminently stable over hazy orange-brown beer. Very intense nose of C-hops, alcohol, fruity esters and chocolate cake. Sweetish-bitter, very chocolatey flavour, with a hint at spiciness, and alcohol-sweet touches to a slowly dwindling finish. Bit like double cream with dry cacaopowder. Less fruity than the nose suggested, some wood, but retronasal, there is a flavour as from preserved kumquat and strawberry. Despite a creamy, and full-bodied MF, very present, titillating carbonation, with bitter carbonation at the back of the tongue. Excellent B.W., balanced, powerful and inviting. Many thanks to fonefan!

Bottled. Hazy nut brown, lively, brief head. Caramelly and spicy, Sweet with medium-full body and rounded mouthfeel. Caramelly salty finish. Lacks some of the flavour depth desired in a good barley wine.

Bottle, 9.5%. Malty and sweet aroma, some baking yeast and a little floral aroma hop. Hazy dark amber colour. Very big stable tan rocky head. The flavour is sweetish and malty, but not sugary. It also has the same floral aroma hop, now also spicy. Still yeast in the flavour, mostly the finish. Distinct bitterness to balance of the sweetness. Slightly high carbonation for the style, but not a problem.

Cloudy amber color; creamy head. The aroma is strange: there is the expected malt and American hops, but also a very strong smell of dust and rubber/plastic. The mouthfeel is thick and slightly oily; strong sweet malt and toffee flavor, strong bitterness, with loads of resins and a nice fruity and mellow profile; long final. Quite good.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and spices. The flavor is very sweet with notes of caramel, malt, and spices, leading to a dry finish. The alcohol leaves a slight bite.

Bottle, from trade with Papsoe. A slightly unclear one, dark amber in color and topped by a finger-thick, dense, off-white head. Lots of toothpaste on the nose, with pine cones and citrus peel. Malty backbone with some caramel. Malty-sweet in the mouth, some caramel and dried fruits, but it’s the hops that leaves the biggest impression with its bitterness and hop flavors. Full body and some alcohol warmth. Overall, a quite decent beer, but it lacks a bit on complexity and tastefulness. 110523
