beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Apr 24, 2008 Golden body with a small white head. Malty honey and caramel nose. Sweet up front with a bready finish, light dried apricot note, soft hops. Way to mild for a doppelbock, more of a sweet helles. doublebock (196), USA Mar 25, 2008 Not much of an aroma. Somewhat like honey. Thin head and golden translucent color. Crisp texture slightly malty with a bitter somewhat antiseptic taste. Not a true double bock. More like a pilsner. asedzie (453), San Francisco, California, USA Feb 18, 2008 Bottle. Pours rich amber with medium, dense, off-white head. Intense grain aroma, fresh bread dough, hints of caramel and herbal hops. Flavor is lightly sweet breadiness, mild underlying hoppy bitterness, grassiness. Lingering bitterness in the finish. Marc (477), Yokosuka, Japan Sep 14, 2007 Clear golden body with a thick fluffy white head that left lots of lacing down the glass. Straw and fresh caramel nose with a touch of herbs and sweetness. Medium mouthfeel, sweetish with grain and grass. Finishes grainy and clean. Not to bad. douglas88 (1557), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Aug 22, 2007 I do wonder why it’s called a double bock. Anyway, besides that it pours golden with a white head and good lacing. A semi-sweetness with a real smooth finish. Not bad. hayduke (1620), Eureka, California, USA Aug 22, 2007 From a 500 ml bottle this poured a light yellow with a good head and good lacing. Nose is of sweet malts and a hint of hops. Fairly oily mouthfeel. Flavor is fairly mild with malts, light hops, and an overall pilsener character. Mild finish. Unusual and nice to drink. bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Jul 18, 2007 Aroma of lightly sweet malt, but not finding a familiar hop. Some sort of aroma suggesting hay. Brassy gold color with a multifingered white head. Thinnish. A bit too carbonated. The flavor suggests wheat, but there is a nice balance of noble hop. The finish is a bit like cooked grain, with not really enough bitter for balance. Fairly dry though. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 1, 2007 A double bock? I wouldn’t have known from the light color and ABV under 5%. still, this beer is like so many uneventful lagers. Sessionable? Sure. Quaffable? You bet. Tangy crisp hop flavor weaker than choicer Bavarian lagers, but not too shabby either.
