Bottle. Pours with a pale straw color and medium head. Nice mustiness to the aroma. Flavors of yeast, bread and malts, similar to a Czech pilsener but with more body and a more robust palate.

Pours gold with white head. Aroma is weak hops. Taste is full of bitter hops, but has a weird undertone of cabbage. Aftertaste continues with the bitterness. Nothing special.

Pours a light-hazed, mid-copper with a short head that fades to a cream-colored film. Cooked vegetable aroma with caramel sweetness and light-roasted grains. Carl says "worty" and I agree (it’s an odor I like, but I’m not so sure how I feel about it in the finished product). Smooth texture with the flavor of a stale, sweet & sour Tootsie Pop. Curious.

Golden lager with a thick creamy white head. Loads of cereals in aroma, with light oxidation notes. In mouth, sweet crisp malt, again lots of cereals, a bit metallic, medium bodied, smooth. Not bad, but....why Pale Double Bock????? Bought about 6 mo. ago at Beers of the world.

A dark gold body with some floaties. The funny thing is that I got a six pack right next to their pils, which I found to be fresh and tasty. The aroma was corn with a hint of grass and honey. The taste had corn with some bread crust and earthy turnips.

Interesting Bohemian Pils in that it has zero hop bite. Like no other Czech beer I’ve ever had either. Cloying sweetness...heavy malt profile. Very very pale in color for a dopplebock. So I’m going to call it a bock, pale in color. Big caramel flavor, some brown sugar as well. Very surprised by the low abv because I thought I detected a fairly robust alcohol presence. Shows what I know! Some strong metallic notes in the finish, which detracted for me. But all in all, a decent drink.

Tan, pale in color. Slight malt nose. Medium nectar w/ a slight malted caramel tropshire. I detect a steeliness about it’s very drinkable, spicey clove, fruity character. Well ballanced. Overall; a tasty brew.

pale double bock?? i guess the error here is one of translation from the czech. in america we put the adjectives beFORE the noun. see? therefore it’s not doubled in it’s BOCKness, it’s doubled in it’s PALEness-- just in reference to it’s color. now it makes perfect sense, right? otherwise, i don’t quibble much with this fairly amusing session drink. it’s shiny golden color is clear-- bright as brass bullet casings. the head was obedient: when i said "foam, boy, foam!", it said "how high?". the lace created compelling likenesses of etched two row barley stems melting down the glass. nice bocky aroma smelled like freshly peeled apples, and almost a vanilla pudding smell. wedged in there fairly tightly are some hay-like hops. it tastes sweet and grainy, moderate on the tongue in terms of carbonation and feel; i imagine i can taste some alcohol, but at a stunted 4.9 abv. , one bottle ain’t gonna have me doing karaoke on any bar tops. melon, with corn tortilla and golden raisin flavors combine in a creamy way, and then wash out leaving a modest citrus bitterness. not sure why the distributers felt the burning need to share this modest quaffer with the world, but here it is, and so i rate.
