An OK lager, with light malt, and some bitterness, light mouthfeel. appropriate carbonation, crisp and clean. Not much in aroma. Light yellow, grassy, mineral water aftertaste. rather boring. Could use more something. Thanks for sharing your Czech finds, Radek.

Darker yellow. Thick sticky malty mouthfeel. Beer most reminded me of a maltier Rickards Gold. The first taste the hops are a little shocking but depending on the price you could get used to this as an occasional selection.

A clear medium Golden color with a small off-white head. Malt, hay, grains, slight fruit. Bittersweet with a light metallic tinge, spicy middle, grassy hops and the creamy Bohemian Pils feel, bitter follow.

Pours gold with medium, white head. Aroma of hopcit, some sour fruits. Tastes pale malty, with hopcit, some honey, and some apricot hints.

Clear golden coor with a coarse textured white head. A bit of a skunky aroma at first that mellowed into a nice malt, light caramel, and grassy hoppiness. Sharp bitter finish that quickly cuts through the almost watery palate. A nice brew and a decent price here in Seattle.

Time to un-retire this baby, it’s now brewed by Mestansky...anyway: Gold to brown, full-ish looking, with excellent foam stand; has that excellent grassy aroma of fine czech malt. Clean at first on the palate with that little bit of butter scotch creeping in, fairly carbonic, with a nice saaz kick in the middle and a fairly quick finish which is slowly nullified woth further sips providing background. Piney, full meal grain flavors and fairly satiating, this is a nice fresh bottle that is quite enjoyable.

nice head at first. also nice aroma- a bit bitter, grassy, malty, beery, later a bit acrid, a hint of sulphur. Looks nice in the glass, light golden amber, not overly carbonated. Perhaps a bit undercarbonated for the "style?" Alcohol long in the finish although it’s not that strong. A bit sweet and watery. Not much wrong or right with it. I liked it better when I had it the first few times. I got this in a beer of the month club. I’m having this one straight from my fridge, so it’s a tad too cold, but as it warms it’s not getting that much better. The name is a misnomer according to tradition.

I’m surprised that this is a retired beer! Anyway, it’s pretty enjoyable. Not what I was expecting from a Bohemian Pilsener, as it’s not crisp or dry. Rather, it’s slightly undercarbonated (good) and malty (also good). A tad sweet (even better). In short, I’m wondering if those three traits prompted the bizarre name choice of "Pale Double Bock", which doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. However, Lev might have been saying that if there were such a style, this would be it. There are some herbal hops in the aftertaste that linger. Enjoyable.
