I’m surprised that this is a retired beer! Anyway, it’s pretty enjoyable. Not what I was expecting from a Bohemian Pilsener, as it’s not crisp or dry. Rather, it’s slightly undercarbonated (good) and malty (also good). A tad sweet (even better). In short, I’m wondering if those three traits prompted the bizarre name choice of "Pale Double Bock", which doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. However, Lev might have been saying that if there were such a style, this would be it. There are some herbal hops in the aftertaste that linger. Enjoyable.

In the bottle. How can this be retired?I just bought it at Asheville Wine Market. Golden color, white head that disappears instantly. Malty aroma. Flavor is quite grassy. Light in body, but a full malt and bitter mouth-feel. Nothing special, but certainly drinkable.

Clear and straw colored with little head and low carbonation. Very malty aroma with some amaretto. A bit sour on the tongue. Interesting malty flavor that finishes quick with a bit of a chemical aftertaste. Very fruity and sweet for a Bohemian Pils. I got this from a beer of the month club and it seems as though they are trying to move dated product.

Pours a deep golden hue. Aroma is mostly of malts with a little graininess. Flavor is rather malty with a bit of a metallic taste to it. I’m wondering how old this beer really is. Bevmo by my house still has alot of Lev beer. Still it isn’t bad.

Bottle. Golden beer with a nice white head. Light sweet malt spicey aroma. Light refreshing flavor. Light malty body with some slight fruitiness. Slight carmelezation.

Aroma of spicy, grassy Saaz hop, accompanied by a small amount of sweetish maltiness. Pale golden yellow color, clear, with a very slight head. Flavor is predominantly hoppy, again the spicy touch of Saaz is unmistakeable here. A faint amount of cidery fruitiness and malt appears towards the finish, which is dry and moderately bitter. Palate is thin and seemingly lacking adequate carbonation. A below average example of the style, unfortunately (Czech Pilsner that is, this is very wrongly marked as being any kind of Bock beer).

Pours golden with thin white head. Aroma is sweet and of straw. Very light in body... I was expecting a double bock. Flavor is highly acidic and highly carbonated- gives the tongue a good bite. Overall I didn’t like this beer, just didn’t like the no real flavor except for the acidic bite.

Bottle pours a translucent golden, medium frothy white head, sticky lacing with soft carbonation.   Nose of sweet grass and malts.   Seems rather light.   Slightly sweet, a bit malty, but not like the Double Bock I expected on the label.   Finishes slighty sweet, like a heavy pilsner or lager.   While not bad, I was expecting a bit more from this one.
