This is a really nice, tasty,. full-bodied Czech pilsner. It is dark gold, very faintly hazy, with a medium, off-white head steadily shrinking to a thin top with a little lace. The aroma is malty grain with a bit of breas, lemon, sulphur, pine, honey, and hay. The taste is herbal hay, grain, honey, bread, lemon. it has a spritxy feel inear the finish and is a bit sweet with a lightly dominant, complex bitterness. It’s extremely tasty and fullbodied yet very easy to drink.

I too doubted if a ’pale doublebock’ could live up to the standard set by its darker brethren; this beer proved that the pale boys can play ball too. Tremendously smooth and cresmy, with that bock malt leading the way. Very warming, and overall just a delicious beer.

Time to un-retire this baby, it’s now brewed by Mestansky...anyway: Gold to brown, full-ish looking, with excellent foam stand; has that excellent grassy aroma of fine czech malt. Clean at first on the palate with that little bit of butter scotch creeping in, fairly carbonic, with a nice saaz kick in the middle and a fairly quick finish which is slowly nullified woth further sips providing background. Piney, full meal grain flavors and fairly satiating, this is a nice fresh bottle that is quite enjoyable.

Pale. clear, straw color, high carbonation, good foam. Lightly fruited, appley herbal aroma. Spritzy carbonated palated shows green apple and cloves, foolowing through to a dry finish. Slight bitter touch at the finish cuts through the initial sweetness.

Retired? Still metallic gold beer with a foamy white head. Airy nose; Smooth and crisp with a tangy, grainy maltiness. Little tanginess that I'd like in a Czech pilsner ... more creamy malt than anything, but a good lager.

A nice floral saaz hop aroma. Apperance is a dark golden color. Flavor is very creamy with a slight bitter taste and a good amount of malt. This is a very good bohemian pilsner right there with Budvar. Im shocked to the see the low ratings and the fact this brewery is retired. Well hasta la vista Hradec Kralove you made a good pils!

Not much of an aroma. Somewhat like honey. Thin head and golden translucent color. Crisp texture slightly malty with a bitter somewhat antiseptic taste. Not a true double bock. More like a pilsner.

Good beer. But I think that ’pale double bock’ is a contradiction in terms. How can a double bock be pale? I’ve always seen deep red, almost porter like dobbplebocks. This was good Czech beer, light and malty. More of a helles bock in my ever so humble opinion.
