Commercial Description:
Is a classic Czech "tmave" (dark) beer with a sweet malty, coffee-like accent. Sweet malts are to the fore on the palate with a hint of drying sensation and a degree of fruitiness on the very lightly hopped finish.

As it spills from the bottle, a very deep blackberry color, the head impressive in size, spumous in structure, light beige in color and the remining lace a nice coating sheet. Nose is caramel sweet, malt laden, fresh and pleasant to the senses, sweet at the start, lots of malt, the top thin and a bit watery. Finish is mildly acidic, crisply hopped, dry but the “thin-waisted” feeling detracts much and leaves me lacking and the best I can do is “Average”, and that’s stretching it a bit!

Malty, roasty aroma, some dark bread, coffee and faint, fruity sweetness, perhaps raisin, along with fainter notes of old wood, butterscotch and brown sugar. Deep, dark mahogany color with a slight, subsiding head. Flavor profile is bitter and malty with a generous spicy hop character to blend with the dry, roasty and chocolate malts. Finish is nutty and toasted, some lingering tobacco and dark brown sugar sweetness late. Palate is thin and a little overcarbonated, body is light-medium. Seems like what I might guess a lagered dry stout would be like.

A little better than I expected. Definite flavors of chocolate and coffee come out with some bitterness in the finish. The hops seem to make it almost too bitter and not very smooth.

Dark reddish-brown with not much head. Sweet dark roasted malt aromas. Light coffee and malt flavors without any bitterness. Not bad, but too thin and watery to make a good impression.

Dark, almost ruby tint with no head to speak of. Roasty vanilla nose. Slightly acidic but roasty throughout, some hints of alcohol and a long sweet lactic finish.

Somewhat dry, roasty tmave. Strictly middle of the raod, but easily beat the Beck Dark I had after this. Retired? Must have been very recent.

Blackish color, light tan head, pretty good lacing and retention. Aroma is chocolate, nut, cola, lightly roasted. Light body, quite sweet.

Pours dark brown with small tan head. Sweet aroma of coffee and sweet malts. Very sweet flavor of roasted malts, a little coffee, and some sweet fruit. I could not taste the hops at all in this dunkel, but the finish was still somewhat dry.
