2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
A hazy amber beer with a disappearing head. The aroma is sour while the flavor is sweet and dry.

0.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20
Golden colour. Caramelly, sweaty aroma. Sweetish flavour - bland and slightly grassy. Flat. Malty flavour, but poorly extracted and with plenty of adjuncts. Yup - it’s Zhigulevskoe all right.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle from Belmont Party.
Poured clear golden color with a minimal white frothy head that diminished quickly with minimal lacing. Light sweet aroma. Light body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of short duration.
Another worth trying once beers.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Fluid clear cornflakes colour; thin dirty-yellow head. Milky, artificial vanilla, chamomille - and maybe some malt in the nose? Offputting. Unbelievably dull malt taste. Lactic, lactose, strange sweet flavours - not artificial in se, but very "unbeery". Nor refreshing. Sticky, flour-like mouthfeel, not light. Terrible beer, really. Soviet indeed, Josh.

1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
16.9 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a
pale yellow color with almost no head. Lots of floaties. Aroma
is grassy and full of adjuncts. Taste is very watery, with some
sweet corny notes and not much else. Thin bodied.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Bottle: Pale yellow, light white head, very carbonated. The nose is a bit bright and zesty with metal and light nutty malts. Some vague hops and a bit of husky sweet maltose in the flavor. Some odd wheaty proteins and a sweetish malt liquor finish. Meh.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle. Ah, the pour tells of a beer that’s sat on the shelf for too long -- full of muddled sediment-like floaties. The aroma is sweet and corny as you’d expect. and the beer drinks with a firm if unobtrusive malt base and a sweet finish. To be fair, I’d like to try a fresh one while reminiscing about the good old days under Stalin. (#3606, 14 July 2009)

1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
Pale light gold body with a large bright white head. The aroma has notes of beets and dirt. There is also a little bit of floral character. The taste is very sweet with beets and unsalted potato chips. There is also a little bit of banana peel. This is a lightly spicy brew without much to recommend.

1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Straw color with a wispy white head that dissipates to a lid of generic bubbles. Aromas of worty malt mix with herbal hops. Hints of cider and bread dough. Sweet wort tastes with strong hops bitterness. Dry old herbs mingle about. Very weak in beer flavors. This is a light brew with a hint of alcohol that borders on a strong N.A. in flavors. Some sweet sour flavors come to mind as I struggle to complete this glass of swill. So, a lower alcohol brew in Russia has to actually taste like and NA as well?
