Draught at the pub. Lively caramel with a medium head. Aroma is mainly grain with a bit of ham. Flavour is malty smoke, a little bacon, dry date finish

worldbeertaste (1672) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2014
Golden copper with a medium white, lasting, head. Smells of smokey ham right away with caramel, malt and light fruit. Medium oily body with medium carbonation. It starts off with smokey meat with caramel and malt and finishes with a slightly burnt, grass bitter end. Defiantly enjoyed drinking it and easily would have more.

mjs (4646) - Helsinki, FINLAND - APR 26, 2014
(Keg at Vagabund, Berlin, 20140419) The beer poured copper coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized, white and it lasted long. Aroma had caramel, smoke, malts and smoked ham. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, caramel, smoke, molasses, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste had smoke, caramel and bitterness. A nice balanced smoked brew but a bit too sweet.

500ml Flasche. Geruch angenehm rauchig, malzig, Karamell. Geschmack leicht rauchig, röstmalzig, würzig.

Bottle looks simle but good. Beer in the glass brownish, small head. Malty-smokey aroma. Starts malty and spicy, mild smokey notes, hints of caramel. Finish less smokey, a bit grasy. Not bad!

Moravius (540) - Berlin, GERMANY - NOV 8, 2013

Erzengel (2967) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - JUN 12, 2013
--> Sehr leckeres, dezent-rauchiges Dunkel

Shaney (2428) - Köln / Cologne, GERMANY - MAY 31, 2013
Delikat!

   AROMA 5/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 2/5   OVERALL 10/20
Ernest (6273) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAY 6, 2013
Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly hoppy (herbs, apricot), with notes of smoked meat, DMS (cabbage!), smoke/ash. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, slightly metallic. While the first whiff had some promise, it didn’t take long for the cabbagey odor to appear. Fairly dirty aftertaste as well. A dumper.
