3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
20090919 Cask at Max’s. Nice enough, simple, clean pils. Light diacetyl aroma notes don’t seem to interfere with flavor. Reminds of Bitburger but with a softer body. French bread, grassy.

0.7 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
500 ml bottle. Very pale, golden body with a thin white head. Aroma of weak grain and perfume. Flavor is weak malty, boiled asparagus and a tiny hint of hops. Plain, watery body, short finish - not a pleasant experience.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draught @brewpub, as Edel-Pils
Straw colour and sparkly. Thick bleached head that falls down. Rich herbal hoppy aroma with no shortage of backing breadcrust. Well-balanced with herbal hop, moderate bitterness, light pale malts and some supporting diacetyl. This messes up the mouthfeel, however, introducing undue slickness that takes away from the herbal bitter character and the cleanliness of the pale malts.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft @ brewery. Yellow color but has a superlative thick tight, creamy head. Hoppy aroma screams pils. Is dry, grassy, herbal, clean and enough malt to back it all up. Great quaffable palate. The flavors match the aromas with lots of grassy herbal hops in the forefront that are well integrated with the sturdy malt backbone. Excellent pils!

Bottle, bought in Hirschaid. Blonde, no head. Flowery hops and a hint of cardboard in the aroma. Malty flavor with apple, cardboard and a hint of old hops. Past its peak, though the best before date wasn’t reached yet.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottled (BB 08/2009).
Yellow color, mostly vanishing white head. Unclean diacetyl-like sweetish, honeyish plus cardboardish aroma. A bit watery palate. Sweet malty, slightly diacetylic. Aftertaste has some grassy bitterness, but otherwise boring.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
500ml bottle (K CM, Vuosaari)
Simple hoppy aroma. Bitter tangy palate. Lagery taste quite akin to some eastern-European or even Russian brews, not so German at all. Not so good either. Hops stick out, and are a bit too grassy and metallic. As it warms, the malts balance it a bit more, and there’s even some ginger, but that doesn’t save it. Drinkable.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Draught at the brewpub. Almost clear pale yellow colour. Nice stable white head. The appearance does not lie, the flavour is rather subtle. Very clean as is usually the case with Bavarian beer, but also quite bland. There is some hay, low to medium bitterness. Not so interesting.
