maeib (3958), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Oct 4, 2004 Bottled - St Albans Beer Festival. Bloody hell looking at the other ratings I started to doubt my own tastebuds but then I read Joris’ words and I felt vindicated. I thought this was sumptuous and by 0.3 points my favourite beer of the day. A beautiful dark rich cherry coloured beer with a fizzy juicy fruit aroma. The taste and palate are excellent with superb cherry stone flavours to the fore with some thick skin flavours as well. Very interesting mix of cherry tastes. Cheers Joris! JorisPPattyn (4282), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 18, 2004 Huge pink head, fluffy and quite persistent; fully hazy dark red beer, amber shine. Barnyard, leather, even horsey nose. Well, this is not supposed to be lambic, and despite the terms, the smell is quite different from a kriekenlambic. Fruit, but not obviously cherry. Taste is first fruit (cherry this time), quite tart, then a very yeasty, bitterish taste emerges, to be gradually subdued again by a lot of fruit acids and flavours, reminiscent of the cherry skins. Rather well bodied, despite the fruit acids. There is a strange mouthfeel, no doubt linked to the yeasty flavours. Quite dry. I have to disagree fundamentally with the other tasters: this isn't artificial in ANY way. I do agree on a rather off-flavour/mouthfeel, probably due to a characteristic of the yeast used. rickgordon (3061), Göteborg, Sweden Mar 28, 2006 Bottled. Sampled at Delirium Café, Göteborg.
Red/Orange colour. Cheesy, slight acidic nose, bit sourish. Lively mouthfeel, little sweetish. Rich on Co2, behind is sugar and cherry stone. Oaky undertone. Boutip (1769), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jan 22, 2008 Bottle: Poured a cloudy and hazy dark pink color ale with a big foamy pink head with perfect retention and good lacing. Aroma of sour cherry is dominating and quite interesting. Taste is an interesting mix between some Belgian malt with some sour cherry with some lingering notes of oak. Definitely no fake cherry syrup used in this one and this is all the better for it. Overall, a very nice fruit beer with some very refreshing characteristics. Storm (2677), Amager, Denmark Mar 22, 2008 Bottle. Unclear, orange colour with a huge head. Aroma of tart and sourness. Very sweet flavour of berries - very nice indeed!
