2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 7, 2005
On tap at Zamecka Konirna in Vrchlabi:
The Lure: Honey sweetness, raw grain and a little mint battle off the minerals. Peppery citrus fruit babble underneath, but without much consequence.
The Festivities: Agreeable, slick honeyed malt sweetness is prevalent here, but all remains watery and too easy for my tastes. Very low on the hops, and somewhat boring compared to the kvasnicovy version. A little fizzy in the end, with citrusy tartness, this is a disappointing pils for a Czech brewpub.
Transcendence: A painting stripped down of some of its best attributes.
