UPDATED: JUL 8, 2013 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Light aroma of roasted malts. Taste - sweet, chocolate and roast malts notes, very light flavors. Light body. Overall easy to drink, but too light.

Lacking in anything particularly interesting but a pass nevertheless. Malty lager. Yes.

Aroma is a little bit of cereal malt, not overwhelming. Head is tan, fading as I type but a little lacey around the edges. Colour is a solid black. Even left to warm for a bit, no big aroma is developing. Maybe getting a little toastiness. Taste is much maltier, almost chewy. Now I’m starting to get the malt in the aroma. Very malt-heavy. Not bad, but a big break from hop-heavy beers. Not too thin for me for the style; OK overall.

Dark black in colour with big tan head. Big malt aroma. Is like drinking a teaspoon of malt extract like you used to when you were a kid.

Draft. Aroma is just like a german beer. A light skunk smell. Appearance is a very dark brown. Taste is malty with a hint of some darkness... No hops. Palate is ok. Overall, a decent beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml bottle into a pint glass. Pours a very dark brown with a very thick two finger tan head. Great head retention and lacing. Quite impressive. The aroma has a nice caramel and toast note along with grassy hops so typical in the style. There is a nice balance between the roast and hops although I wish the toastiness was a little more prominent. Much less roast in the flavor although there is a healthy dose of caramel. Bread and grassy hops in the background but all of the flavors are quite subtle overall. Just a light bitterness and oily mouthfeel with a bit of sticky in the finish. Overall. a decent schwarzbier but a little underwhelming. I prefer the original pils.

Clear ruby with medium off white head. Quite stable. Bit lacing Aroma.. my fault - it was after tactical nuclear penguin :D kinda toasted malts, bready, thin caramel, some hops Sweetish with some bitterness. Quite dry. Bit to thin, but drinkable without negative features.. quite boring thou

Single brown bottle from Marché Omni. Pours a dark colour with red highlights. Big frothy light beige head that last quite long, with decent lacing. Fruity aromas of malts, with hints of nuts, roasted malts and burnt cereals. Medium-light bodied with an oily and wet mouthfeel. The taste is a little milder than the nose. Roasted cereal malts and watered-down coffee. Easy-drinking schwarbier.

Very average easy drinking beer nothing special. German beer mechanically made to perfection by the book not by the reality ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nice and black, yes, a Schwarzbier, but it tastes like the worst of Dunkels. A bit of a rancid whiff on the vitamalz aroma, which makes itself much more evident in the flavour, as a rancid, poorly-balanced vegetarian-based chicken feed. Watery, skunky, really abominable. I’m surprised it has such a high rating.
