Pours a deep cola brown with two fingers of fluffy tan head, decent retention and well-defined moderate lacing. Nose is dark roasted malts, caramel and molasses, slightly smoky. Taste is light malt, hint of smoke, mild bitter finish. Mouth feel is watery, light body and moderate carbonation. So... it’s a... slightly smokey... dark... lager... with a little bitter on the finish? It’s OK, I guess - better than an adjunct lager - but it’s not something I’d go looking for again.

Aroma is very roasty malts, caramel and molasses. Taste is similar, pretty rich with a slight bitterness on finish. Appearance is a copper/amber body with a creamy white head that retains fairly well.

From the archive, bottle bought in Luxembourg.

[Bottle] Coca-cola colored pour without much fizz. Aroma of caramel and cocoa powder. Taste includes dusty malts, caramel, molasses, light nut and vanilla notes. Mild earthy notes in the finish. Body is about what I expected. Tasting notes from early 2012.

Bottle from Tesco. Consumed at home. Very dark brown. Decent carb and a small beige head. Aroma of smoke, chocolate malt, seawater. Taste is more of a let-down: sweet and salty with an artificial taste, almost like corn syrup. Weak, watery mouthfeel. Salty aftertaste. Odd but passable,
