500 ml bottle bought at TASTE in Festival Walk, Kowloon Tong.

Clear opaque Cola black colour; Half finger head and off white foam which last for 1 minute; Good sticky lacing and active carbonation; Aroma of fairly light roasted malt, with light toffee, sugar, light caramel, light chocolate, thin cream, black coffee and hay; Light sweet taste of roasted malt, with light wet cardboard, unsweetened Cola, light black coffee, faint nuts, hint of citrus, liquorices and hay; Light body, watery palate; Mouth feel is blackish near-water, with related Schwarz tastes like chocolate, toffee, etc are near zero. Even its Coke taste nothing like Diet nor Zero, just completely unsweetened and void. WTF... Hoppiness is hay in nose, thin lemon and straw in taste. Liquorices gives noticeable low bitterness for low-fi finish; Wet after taste, very easy and slightly bitter to mouth.

Comments: This is essentially a Milwaukee’s Best Premium disguised in black - desperately low in aroma, body and palate nearly identical to water, and close to tasteless bar hop extract. Drain pours after half a glass. Avoid!

From a 11.2 FL.OZ bottle, I smell lite roasted coffee and faint wood. I taste smoky wood, brown sugar, some caramel and malt.

Draft sample. Near black in colour with fairly strong carbonation. Aromas are of sulfur, pils malt, mild chocolate and a bit of roast. Very mild classic German Pilsner flavour, with a bit of chocolate and light roast coffee on the back end. Light bodied with a quick mineral-like finish. Not overly complex, but not bad at all

Bottle 0.5L. Dark brown body with a huge, frothy, tan head, mostly lasting with nice lacing. Moderate malty (roasted, light caramel) aroma with notes of coffee. Moderate-to-heavy bitter flavour with an average-to-long lasting finish. Light body with watery texture; soft carbonation; light metallic feeling in the finish.

BOTTLE 50CL. Head: beige, medium, frothy to creamy, avg. retention. Colour: dark amber almost black, clear. Aroma: roasted, mildly sweet and oily notes like halva. Taste: not much roast per se, but a light roasty acidity, light bitter finish. A nice "stouty" aroma, but quite a thin body.

May 2012. From bottle. Dark brown with a tan head. Roasted malt aromas with caramel, but somewhat thin and watery. Sweet finish and not that balanced.
