3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MalcolmTucker (513) - - SEP 8, 2012Bottle. A handsome beer - dark mahogany with a generous beige head. Roasted malt aroma. Flavour is roast, coffee with a dry finish. Prickly mouthfeel and a little thin.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 rangerred (660) - Johnson City, Tennessee, USA - MAY 15, 2013
330ml bottle into a pint glass.
Pours a very dark brown with a very thick two finger tan head. Great head retention and lacing. Quite impressive.
The aroma has a nice caramel and toast note along with grassy hops so typical in the style. There is a nice balance between the roast and hops although I wish the toastiness was a little more prominent.
Much less roast in the flavor although there is a healthy dose of caramel. Bread and grassy hops in the background but all of the flavors are quite subtle overall. Just a light bitterness and oily mouthfeel with a bit of sticky in the finish.
Overall. a decent schwarzbier but a little underwhelming. I prefer the original pils.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Vells (254) - LATVIA - MAY 12, 2013
Clear ruby with medium off white head. Quite stable. Bit lacing
Aroma.. my fault - it was after tactical nuclear penguin :D kinda toasted malts, bready, thin caramel, some hops
Sweetish with some bitterness. Quite dry. Bit to thin, but drinkable without negative features.. quite boring thou
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Metalchopz (1747) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 1, 2013
Single brown bottle from Marché Omni. Pours a dark colour with red highlights. Big frothy light beige head that last quite long, with decent lacing. Fruity aromas of malts, with hints of nuts, roasted malts and burnt cereals. Medium-light bodied with an oily and wet mouthfeel. The taste is a little milder than the nose. Roasted cereal malts and watered-down coffee. Easy-drinking schwarbier.
3.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 Itzjerm (578) - Taft, Tennessee, USA - APR 22, 2013
Very average easy drinking beer nothing special. German beer mechanically made to perfection by the book not by the reality

1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Cantabrian (382) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - APR 19, 2013
Nice and black, yes, a Schwarzbier, but it tastes like the worst of Dunkels. A bit of a rancid whiff on the vitamalz aroma, which makes itself much more evident in the flavour, as a rancid, poorly-balanced vegetarian-based chicken feed. Watery, skunky, really abominable. I’m surprised it has such a high rating.
2.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 DylansDad (157) - NEW ZEALAND - APR 16, 2013
Aroma smelled of a typical shitty so-called ’premium’ macro-lager, yet the actual taste offered so much more. Unfortunately after a while it kind of tasted like someone had actually taken a bottle of green-bottle slosh and injected a bit of fairly good flavour into it, but the two elements don’t perfectly integrate, they remain separate: shit beer with a fairly good dark, cocoa, coffee, wet cardboard flavour riding on top.

330ml bottle. Some roasty and caramel aromas. pours very dark, with vanishing off-white head, poor lacing. Light body, high carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is bitter, some raisins, a bit coffee. Nothing remarkable.

Pours black with tan head and nice, nice lacing. Sweet malty aromas, with similar flavours. Smooth. Palate is fairly flat. Not too bad.
