Bottle: Amber coloured, clear, smaller - slowly collapsing - white head, light to moderate grassy-hoppy nose with very faint traces of dark malt or caramel; moderate dryish bitter - sweet flavour, light bodied and a bit fizzy; short and dry bitter-grassy finish. This is not a real Dunkel, but a fake! Tastes suspiciously like a coloured Krombacher Pils…

It’s funny how many "Beeradvocates" are fooled by this. "Krombacher Dunkel" = "Krombacher Pils" with Sinamar (Farbebier) added to colour the Beer. There’s 0 roasted Malt flavour in this.An absolute, fraudulent joke. My Review? See my Krombacher Pils Review

0,5 l Flasche. Aroma: malzig, getreidig, leicht hopfig, genauso wie das hauseigene Pils (erste Vermutung: Färbemalz?). Erscheinung: Braunes Bier, flacher, cremefarbener Schaum, schöne Gardine. Geschmack: Malzig süß, leicht metallisch. Nachgeschmack: angenehme Bitterkeit kommt spät, pelzige Zunge. Gesamt: Gut trinkbar, süffig.

Pours brown with a small, somewhat fizzy head that quickly dissipates. The aroma, quite subdued, is of hops and roasted malts, with a cherry note. Body is relatively thin, with quite a bit of carbonation. The undertone is of roasted malts, but this does not subside into being a sweet, malty brew like a lot of darks; the hops balances it out. Still, the overall the overall taste is rather dull, with notes of paper. In general a dry, mild bitterness dominates from beginning to end. Decent.

Keg at The Brewhouse & Kitchen, Dorchester, Dorset. Dark brown with cream head. This was a slighly sweet and fruity beer, fairly light on the palate, highly carbonated with a wet cardboard note. Some nutty, vegetable notes. Just okay.
