2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Was super thirsty, and although I had a backpack full of high-potency Belgos from Ambrosetti’s, wanted a cold beer on the train out of Berlin. Could not have been more disappointed. Watery, lawn-mower beer with a waft of bitter hops at the finish (not elegant hops like a recent draft Bitburger). Even in a moment of dire thirst, it was hard to choke down - - a real chug-only with no redeeming charms. I’m sticking to Jever, KöPi, and maybe Bit or Radeberger if I have to drink pils from now on.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Stowmarket Spoons. Pours golden with a white head. The taste is tangy citrus with a lingering metallic aftertaste. Reasonably full flavoured. Refreshing for a hot day.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
On tap at a restaurant in Heiligenhafen. Fruity and bready smell, a bit artificial. Similar taste. Fairly clean if this is an industrial lager, at least it tastes like an above average industrial lager.

Rated based on notes taken 14 July 2012 -- Not a big fan on Pilsners on the whole, but this one impressed me.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
From tap in Frankfurt into a glass krombacher mug. Clera as day, nice carbonation, fluffy white head. Medium body, creamy. Very nice body. Nose is light maly, a little wheat. Body is a bit fuller than a typical pils, but nothing too remarkable. Refreshing and straight-forward.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Krombacher is for me something like a benchmark. It is the definition of mediocre. Well brewed, without flaws or errors, without bad aftertaste and without headaches. However, on other hand without much aroma or special taste, just a solid straight forward beer. Golden, clear and sparkling with a full, white, long lasting and frothy head. Aroma is malty with bready notes, spicy and somewhat floral-earthy. Very balanced taste and flavor, however the sweetness is a bit stronger than the hoppy bitterness. Very harmonic in its composition, straight forward and easy, maybe to harmonic, without any edges or pleasant surprises. The body is light with high carbonation and a bitter finish.
