Beer 111 Summer 2006 trip in Europe. Drank on 7/22/06 @ a little side walk kiosk in Copenhagen. Not bad, had to try it for the bottle and my friend Josh who used to love Kronenbourg.

25cl bottle. Citrus aroma, with hints of sourness. Pours cloudy yellow. Flavor is actually nice, reminds me of a berliner weisse mixed with a wit, berliner wit? ha. seriously though, good citrus flavor, orange with lemons, some nice tartness, with spices and some sweetness. The more i drank the more pineapple i got. not great not horrible.

Bottle, poured a very ugly milky pale gold with a tightly foamed white head. A very strong zesty cirtus aroma with the apricot coming through cleanly as well - actually smells good. The mouthfeel is a little like thin and off milk - hardly appertising. Someone said the flavour is like diluted orange juice, and that is spot on. A little yeast coming through, but not much like your typical (enjoyable) witbeir. Though better than your standard Kronenbourg - but that’s not saying much.

Best bit of this one is appearance - Cloudy peach colour with thick creamy white head. Unbalanced. Strong citrus aroma, flavour apricot, lemon. Thin mouthfeel, refreshing but over sweet and very artificial tasting. A little ’beer flavour’ on the swallow. Aftertaste a little cacky. Pretty unconvincing as a wit, and very overpriced. Poor.

[Blue bottle] Pale, hazy yellow. Dense head. Strong citrus aroma. Watery mouth feel; tastes like diluted orange juice. Witbier has never been one of my favourite styles and this certianly didn’t help.

Draft. Poured a hazy whitish-yellow color. Bubbly white disappearing head that left a bit of tattered lace behind. Strong lemony citrus aroma and flavor supported by only a touch of coriander and a little yeasty bread dough. More like a spiced lemon lime soda that a wit.

Light yellow color. Unclear. Has a white head, medium lasting. Aroma of citrus, flowers, perfume. A bid acidity, lemon, acetic-acid in flavor. Very carbonated.

From a can, hazy yellow with a nice head. Aroma was wheaty and citrus as was the flavour but with a syrupy fake sweeter note.

UPDATED: MAY 27, 2007 The clumsiest and most cynical attempt at a style I’ve ever encountered. Hideously sugary, neat cordial/ Rowntree’s pineapple jelly nose. A tongue-curlingly artificial attack of sicky citric fruit and vile aspartame bitterness. Redeemed only by a fleeting wheaty note after the swallow. It’s not often I find a beer genuinely offensive to the senses, but this is something else. A disgracefully chemical attempt to cash-in on the lucrative popularity of Hoegaarden etc. Smirnoff Ice and RWhites brew better beers than this.
