Clear golden lager with fluffy head, that quickly settles. Smells slightly metallic of sweet pale malt, grain, corn and green grass. The metallic "greeness" is echoed in the taste which starts off sweet, but finishes dry and slightly bitter. Quite refreshing, but very standardized lager.

The beer starts off like you would expect from a French lager. Pale gold color, fluffy white head, just a hint of skunk familiar with green-bottled European lagers that you get here. The taste, however, is a bit surprising. There’s still that light sweet grain, but there’s some honey and a little bit of spice, too. Just a touch of clove, maybe. The mouth feel is fuller than similar beers. Really good lacing, too. Worth a try if you want something light, refreshing, and with at least a modicum more character than anything with "light" in the name.

This was a no go for me. The bland grains (possibly harvested from 1664), made this beer one I would not seek out again.

500 ml can from LCBO. Pours a clear golden colour with decent-sized white head. Bland grains, some artificial sweetness and light grassy hops in the aroma. Flavour is sweet grains and a hint of musty, grassy hops. Active carbonation. Nice to see them actually show glucose syrup as an ingredient; is about as good as one would expect knowing that.

Aroma is skunky (typical of many lagers) with an alcohol background. A floral essence of hops can also be detected. These aromas combined are very enticing. A crystal golden color with a clear sparkling complexion. Head is frothy-white with a well-balanced lacing. Light bitter taste that proves refreshing. Has a very appealing fresh taste. Medium body that has a thin texture with lively carbonation. The finish is an impressive long, faintly bitter that tops off an excellent beer experience. This is by far my favorite lager on the planet. (And has been that way for a long time). Highly recommended!!!!!

Kronenbourg 1664 has a very thick, frothy, whipped-cream like head and a clear, golden appearance, with lots of bubbles streaming up. Lots of thick lacing is left behind. The aroma is mild and lightly-roasted barley malt. I could not pick up a hop smell. Taste is mild, but interesting. Breadiness predominates, but some minimal hop spice is picked up at the end of the sip, however this bitterness is stronger in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Kronenbourg 1664 finishes crisp, refreshing, and good. Overall, this is a good beer, and you should try it. Happily, my sample from the green bottle was not skunked. Bright golden in color with a thin white head. Sweet fruit is by far the strongest aroma coming from this beer offering cherries, apples and citrus grapefruits. There is also a rather nice hay complexity adding to the arom. Mostly mild on the palate, this offers up some tart fruit and a hint of grain. The finish is surprisingly rather long and dry.

Appearance: clear dandelion gold, with a two-finger frothy white head that lingers; significant lacing. Aroma: sweet cereal grains, slightly grassy hops, and a surprising note of tropical fruit. Taste: light cereal grains, slightly peppery and grassy hops, hint of fruit (mango?). Finish: light sweetness gives way to a hint of floral, grassy bitter dryness. Notes: Not bad, altogether. Flavors were significantly less than the aroma indicated. The nose of this beer seemed like it would present something special, but the taste was more like a standard pale lager. Appearance and palate were pretty darn good.
