2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 jonas (4506) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - OCT 22, 2003
Golden, low head.
A little bit bitterhop flavor.
Generally ok, but not fantastic.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Braudog (4473) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - DEC 6, 2003
Poured orange-golden with substantial head. Highly starchy aroma. The flavor is mellow, not at all as stark as the aroma would suggest. Malty and sweet and a floral finish. Not bad, actually.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 tiggmtl (4467) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 4, 2005
Grainy sweetness light herbal/spicy hops and pils malt (mild DMS) in the nose. Clear golden body is topped by thin but lasting cover of white head that actually laces fairly nicely. Sweet creamed corn flavour is cabbagey in the finish. Not a lot of character to the otherwise bland, lightly sweet flavour. Medium-light body with fair to moderate carbonation and a slightly greasy texture that sticks in the throat. Can (Rahman - Mar. 2005).
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 larsga (4435) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 6, 2007
Medium shiny offwhite head. Yellow body with light carbonation. Sugary soft drink-like malty aroma. Soft sweetish malty taste with notes of apple and paper. Watery. No aftertaste. Bitterish papery taste lingers. Vaguely fruity. Not bad, nor good. (0.33l bottle, Internasjonalen, Oslo.)
1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 muzzlehatch (4425) - Burlington, Vermont, USA - JAN 19, 2004
Bottled. Light yellow, clear, creamy whipped meringue head. Skunky aroma, no surprise. Thanks green glass and dusty long shelftime! Sweetish, very placid body, clean and largely free from such impediments as hops, malt, and flavor, until an unsettling thin metallic bitterness sets in near the end. More proof that French beers not labelled biere de garde need not be purchased from US store shelves.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 KnutAlbert (4386) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 16, 2007
Bottle, Oslo Beer Festival.
I remember drinking this on draft in Strasbourg many years ago, and I think they have removed most of the flavour to make it a global brand. Light, easy drinking, there is a hoppy finish that’s ok.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 ogivlado (4275) - Zagreb, CROATIA - DEC 23, 2002
Canned(500ml). -not so good as Kronenbourg, pale yellow, sweet malty flavor
1.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 DuffMan (4242) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 20, 2005
Wow, this proves that the French CAN be dull!! Golden yellow, poor head, no lace, no aroma to speak of, and a palate that leaves you searching for... something, anything to talk about. No kidding, I really feel that this has even less character than mass-produced below-average stuff than Canada’s Labatt’s and Australia’s Emu Bitter. Not bad, just featureless.
