Bottle. Poured a pale gold with a quickly dissipating bubbly white head. Aroma had notes of corn, grain and hay. Flavor was unpleasant with sweet malts.

Corn, grass aroma, pale yellow, medium white head. Corn, grass taste, tiny amount of bitterness. Light bodied, ordinary.

Clear pale golden colour with average white head. Malty grainy aroma with grassy hops. Earthy hoppy flavour with grainy malts.

rauchbier (3135) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - FEB 4, 2002
UPDATED: SEP 17, 2003 Little discernable hop aroma flavour or bitterness. Barely noticable malt notes. That should mean it is nicely balanced, but in reality its just ordinary.

Pale yellow has a hoppy feeling and a big white fluffy head who stays long a bit watery but still a o.k beer.

Aubrey (3125) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - OCT 3, 2001
UPDATED: SEP 26, 2006 Light and clean-tasting. Kind of bready and toasty. Slightly - very slightly - fruity aroma with gentle hops. Mild bitterness. Not enough of anything to make me excited.

Yee-haw -- a chance to savage the French! A little skunky, though not bad. Lager-tart and a little fruity. Very carbonated, but a fair mouthfeel, tough there were some musky notes in the finish. Interesting bottle. Not bad, but not distinct enough to buy it again.

This came across as too harshly carbonated. The first flavor was interesting--subtle spice?--with hoppy bitterness, but as I drank more it became overpowering, and indeed, I found it difficult to finish, much less enjoy.
