1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20 harlequinn (2745) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - FEB 8, 2006
Just a hint of skunkiness. Some bready aromas, and grassiness, hops as an afterthought. Just not very good at all.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Mora2000 (2732) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JAN 11, 2010
Pours a very clear macro yellow with a white head. The aroma is basic macro with some hops in it. The flavor is more basic macro with some grassy hops in the finish. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 stouby (2725) - Holbæk, DENMARK - JAN 27, 2005
Bottle, in Geneva.
Yellow with white head. Aroma and flavor of malt and hops with a fine bitter finish. Well-balanced.
2.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 tupalev (2708) - Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 25, 2004
On tap, Dora Keogh, Toronto. Light yellow pour, large white head. Surprisingly hoppy aroma, which was promising. Flavour took care of that though, just nothing going on at all, fizzy, and entirely inoffensive. I will admit, there was a little bit more of a malt character to the body than the appearance suggested. Pretty bland after a promising start.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 markwise (2697) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - JUN 22, 2008
Disappointing overall. This beer pours a transparent gold color with a tiny white head. It had a ricey/ lagery aroma with a taste to match. Disappointing overall, tried it based on a waitress recommendation after enjoying a Hacker-Pschorr and asking for something similar. Note: just because it’s been brewed since 1664, does not mean it is exceptional.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Kinz (2694) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - SEP 19, 2010
Sampled from can in hotel mini-bar. Surprised I hadn’t rated this. Yet another "accidental" rating from this trip. I have a slight soft spot for Kronenbourg, as it was one of the first beers I ever tried in my tender years that actually had an enjoyable flavor. Or any flavor really. In any case, my perceptions from 20 years later... Pale clear yellow, fizzy head dies fast. Aroma has some faint floral hops and some grainy notes. Flavor is grainy, with a good dose of corn, and some hop bitterness to balance out the finish. Thin body. Hops apparently are for aroma only, as I couldn’t find a trace of them in the beer. Just not very good, although it could be worse by a mile with this style.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 cbkschubert (2685) - Cochise Co., Arizona, USA - DEC 26, 2005
This beer tastes like Becks Light. Nice gold color. Head fades to a thin layer quickly. Flavor and aroma nothing special. This beer actually tasted better than I expected. I probably won’t by it again, but if someone gave me one, I drink it.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Gusler (2655) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - JUL 28, 2001
Dark gold color, fair malt nose and a bit of hops. White head and decent lace, adequate, but not great. Once again it’s hard to overcome my bias against ’Blond’ beers. While its drinkable, will be lucky to make my top 250. Still for the ’Lite’ beer crowd, you will like it, clean, refreshing, just not a hit with this grissled olde dark beer lover.
