1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle, at Nguyen Du brewpub in Saigon. Dark gold with chill haze, flat with no head. Bad aroma, nothing remotely beery or enjoyable about it, just wood and plastic. Very thin, watery finish. Fizzy. Tastes slightly better than it smells but hardly any flavor, cardboard with some metallic notes and that’s about it.

2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
31st Dec 2010: Small green (25cl) twist top bottle obtained in a pack from Auchen (a huge French supermarket chain) in Calais. Bought for my son and his friends to drink over the Christmas period, I borrowed one to review.
Was slightly suprised by the quality to be honest. The beer was poured into my ’La Chouffe’ stemmed tulip glass.
Good deep amber/gold colour with a white cap of foaming bubbles on top, looked like a typical lager/pilsner.
The smell was grainy, some hops in there too.
The beer was refreshing, crisp, sharp and dry tasting, a mild hop bitterness towards the end of the mouthfeel.
Not bad at all.
