The Rathskeller Wine & Beer Fest:When poured, this beer formed a small sized white head that contained fine sized bubbles.The body was clear with very little carbonation.The hue of this beer was yellow and the nose was that of a typical Lager.The flavor was flat and uninviting.The mouthfeel was medium bodied and smooth.This beer was lacking any character.

French people know why they serve it with "sirop de pêche", "sirop de citron" (poor men's desperados)and other flavors. Then it actually tastes quite well.

As far as lagers go, this one is pretty solid, but a little too sweet in my opinion. The color is a rich golden-yellow with a nice head. The aroma is sweet and malty, as is the taste. The finish is crisp, but rather flat... not really much taste at the back of the mouth. Overall, a cheap staple lager... nothing to write home about.

Always been a good French staple. Made a concerted attempt to get a major foothold in the UK a few years ago (unlike 1664 which has been around for ages) where it never seems to taste quite as good as on the continent. Whether this is just becasue it's always sunnier there or not is a debatable point. Nice amber lager colour to it, with a slightly hoppy nose. Without having any particularly great facets, this is always a beer I'm happy to quaff and I've never yet got bored of it on holiday.

HEAD: Dense, persistent head,White. COLOUR: Bright golden-yellow.
NOSE: Dominant malty-cereal nose
Hops, fruit and yeast, with hints of honey and pepper. AROMA: Medium intensity
Dominant malt-cereal flavours
hints of liquorice, hops and pepper. PALATE: Well balanced, with slight tanginess. BODY: Good, smooth body, slight sparkle.
FINISH: Short finish,
smooth, well-defined bitterness with hints of malt.

Bottle brought back from from France, was 4.5%ABV rather than 4.7%. Light malt nose. Light bodied malt flavour a refreshing beverage. Puts the main stream swill over here to shame, why don't they sell this stuff instead of the mass market 1664 we get here??!

How times can change one. Never held it in high regard, but thought much more of it years ago. Good, but rather watery and thin in the finish. Some good flavor in there with a decent balance.

Although we sat outside on a nice place in spring in Paris in the sun and ate a Beer-Cheese fondue -it had no positve influence on the rating of this brew. Grainy nose, taste and loo,. Watery finish.
