Trev (448), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Apr 19, 2008 Pours a nice brown colour with a slight off white head that fades instantly.
Light coffee aroma and roasted malt.
Flavour was light but nutty.
Quite drinkable.
MBison (335), Southern Highlands, Australia Jul 7, 2008 Can (500ml). Poured a deep ruby black with a frothy/creamy, averaged sized, tanned head which was mostly lasting. Aroma was of sweetish, lightly roasted malts with notes of aniseed, caramel, milk chocolate, prunes and a hint of coffee. Flavor was similar to aroma with virtually no bitterness, sweet lightly roasted malts, caramel, milk chocolate, dates and a hint of creamy coffee. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation, a dry/creamy mouthfeel and an ok finish.
Not bad just not that memorable.
Grovlam (2904), Copenhagen, Denmark Jul 1, 2008 Draught @ Albatros Prague. Thick large off-white creamy head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Somewhat clear sparkling body with a mahogany color. Aroma of light roasted malt, hint of citrus, some butterscotch and nice underlying mild hoppy notes. Light bodied with an average carbonation and light thin texture. Light sweet malty flavor with a hint of bitterness. Light roasted malty finish. JustinBathurst (119), Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada Jun 26, 2008 Bought at ICA grocery store in Visby, Gotland, Sweden.
Pours a very dark ruby brown with 2 cm dark tan head.
Smells very malty sweet, with wet grain, grass and a touch of burnt popcorn.
Very smooth mouthfeel--ever-so-slightly thick and with low carbonation.
The taste is an immediate dose of roasted malt, albeit very toned-down (I have a feeling this is because this is the 3.5% version for the Swedish market outside of Systembolaget stores), a touch of lemon. Overall, not as sweet as it smells. The aftertaste is very much unsweetened cocoa.
Overall, not bad, but I think I’d prefer the full-on Systembolaget version. Pinball (201), Allerřd, Denmark Jun 26, 2008 for a low alc. beer this is great - if i judge by taste i found this a bti smokey, licorice, darkish, but not really especially tasty. Probably the low alc. still the best low alc of this style i’ve had (i think). Ole_R (1070), Oslo, Norway Jun 21, 2008 500 ml bottle, 3,5% abv. Mediumsized, lightly tanned head. Color is dark brown with some ruby highlights. Dry and dusty aroma of cocoa and dark chocolate. Taste is dry malty. Coffee-beans, caramel and chocolate notes. A discreet sweetness is lurking under. Chalky, powdery texture. Slim body. Well balanced and harmonious, but a bit thin.
