Bottled (BB 11/2009)
Dark ruby brown color, small beige head. Sticky barnyard-toffee aroma. Medium-bodied. Flavor has barnyard, toffee and some hoppy notes in the finish. Strange. Probably past its prime.

MiP (14562) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - JAN 25, 2008
Bottle, 5% as Krug-Bräu Lager. Very weak spicy aroma. Clear brown colour. Nice, frothy tan head. The flavour is slightly malty, but does not taste very "dark", not sweet or roasted, that is. Slightly buttery aftertaste, turning weakly smoked after a while. Watery mouthfeel and thin flavour. High carbonation.

Schmeckt wie ein typisches Lager, es ist milid und schmeckt leicht malzig, der Nachgeschmack fällt ein wenig flach aus. OK. Test vom 1.10.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,10,12,8,7,10 - 9,75

Golden brown. Toasty nose with light toffee notes and a very subtle spiciness. Tasty but dry palate. Hints of chocolate and light cocoa. A little thin in the finish, as many Franconian darks are.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2014 Aroma has wood and fruit (pear, pineapple). Thick, creamy, long-lasting head. Low carbonation, although more than some other beers of this type. Hoppy and fruity. Hopbitter finish with some (beech)wood. That was a long time ago! From bottle, october 2014. Dark brown color. Chocolate and malt in the aroma. Caramel. Malty sweet flavor, bready. Caramelly. Carbonation is soft. Just enough grassy hops the balance the beer out.

courtesy of fiulijn - clear dark ruby-brown beer with a poor chaotic foam left; the aroma is meaty and slightly sourish; medium-bodied and tart; some biting bitterness and an earthy, meat-like finish - weird

Botella, as "Krug~Bräu Lager" ("Solarbier").. (?). .............Clear deep amber brown colour with a rather small beige head, creamish like. Aroma of well toasted caramel and malt, light dark fruit. Good mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet with well toasted caramel and malt, some bread, medium pleasant hoppy bitterness, dry, mild chocolate like in the finish.

Bottle… February in Franconia (2011)… Clear copper lager with a large, pillowy, off-white head. Great retention. The aroma is oddly earthy, woody and a touch lactic with a misplaced suggestion of funk. Medium-bodied and a bit oily with prickly carbonation. The flavor is perfectly balanced, but displays no nutty, toasty or chocolaty maltiness normally associated with dunkles. Finishes crisp and very lightly bitter. Thanks go out to erlangernick and Koelschtrinker for making this month of Franconia lagers possible!
