3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Golden brown. Toasty nose with light toffee notes and a very subtle spiciness. Tasty but dry palate. Hints of chocolate and light cocoa. A little thin in the finish, as many Franconian darks are.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma has wood and fruit (pear, pineapple). Thick, creamy, long-lasting head. Low carbonation, although more than some other beers of this type. Hoppy and fruity. Hopbitter finish with some (beech)wood.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Schmeckt wie ein typisches Lager, es ist milid und schmeckt leicht malzig, der Nachgeschmack fällt ein wenig flach aus. OK.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
courtesy of fiulijn - clear dark ruby-brown beer with a poor chaotic foam left; the aroma is meaty and slightly sourish; medium-bodied and tart; some biting bitterness and an earthy, meat-like finish - weird

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle… February in Franconia (2011)… Clear copper lager with a large, pillowy, off-white head. Great retention. The aroma is oddly earthy, woody and a touch lactic with a misplaced suggestion of funk. Medium-bodied and a bit oily with prickly carbonation. The flavor is perfectly balanced, but displays no nutty, toasty or chocolaty maltiness normally associated with dunkles. Finishes crisp and very lightly bitter. Thanks go out to erlangernick and Koelschtrinker for making this month of Franconia lagers possible!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Dark amber coloured, thin lacing white foamy froth; caramel, malts, floral hoppiness in the nose; initial sweet maltiness becomes drier: mild bitter flavour and slightly dry, bitter-malty finish with traces of chocolate; extremely mild. A nice, quite malt-accented Franconian Landbier.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(bottle, nowadays just labeled as Lager) Clear, mahogany colour with a big and tanned foamy head. Sweet roasted malty aroma with distinctive notes of chocolate, toffee and a light herbal hoppy spots. Sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a smooth carbonation. Roast-malty taste with caramel and milk chocolate; sweet and light-bitter roasty finish with a lasting aftertaste. Very good Dunkel (28.07.08).
