Harmony between taste and beauty - Dark beer is the traditional product of the Royal Brewery of Krušovice and for more than 100 years the production of this beer has not stopped. The beer has a full, sweet caramel taste and a light hop flavour. The high quality of the raw ingredients assures the excellent taste of the beer. There are several types of malt, natural spring water from the Křivoklát Wood and hops from the Žatec area.

Cask at Cloisters. A very dark brown colour with a light tan head. Aroma of caramel and yeast. Flavours of coffee, yeast and caramel. Creamy mouth-feel and quite highly carbonated. OK.

Got a 500ml can from a friend in the Czech Republic (thanks, Lukas!)
Poured into a large mug.

A: Black with some ruby red highlight like a stout, but without the thickness. Generates a surprisingly large head for a lager. Poor retention and lacing, though.

S: not much to speak off. Slightly malty. Doesn’t smell like a typical European lager, though (thankfully!).

T: Much like the aroma - very mild and faint but what’s here isn’t offensive. I get a touch of biscuity malt and a slight sweetness like a flat cola. Absolutely nothing repulsive about the palate, but not a lot to truly enjoy.

M: Not too thin, but tepid. Finishes clean so aftertaste is virtually non-existent.

D: Extremely smooth! Drinks more like a flat soda than a beer, which makes sense considering the amazing low ABV of only 3.8%

Overall, not the best schwarzbier I’ve ever had, but impressed by how drinkable it is. If only there was robustness to the palate.

Bottle. Dark brown, not too big but creamy and sustaining head. Aroma is toasted malt, caramel, coffee, dark chocolate, some sweetish-sourish elements, and herbal-sweaty hops. Taste is a combination of toasted malt, coffee and chocolate plus some subtle hops but all is dragged down by the wateriness of this beer. Dry, slightly sourish, not sweet at all but watery.

[Draught] I drank it in Debrecen (HU) yesterday. It had a very dark colour and thin head. It had roasted malt, a little bit coffee and caramel in the aroma and in the palate. I liked it.

Robust and roasty but light in body. It starts off a bit crappy but gets better as you finish.

Frankfurt, Germany .5L bottle drunk from snifter glass. pours black with a small to medium sized beige head that disappears quickly. the aroma is of roasted barly, burnt toast, smoke, a bit of chocolate and a bit floral. flavor is of toast, roasted malt, bit of a woody flavor, smokiness, also a slight hop bitterness is evident. drinkability is relatively high. overall i think it is an above average schwarzbier.
